Role Description This is a full-time, on-site CNC Setter role based at our facility in Coimbatore. The CNC Setter will be responsible for setting up CNC machines according to job specifications, including loading tools, fixtures, and programs, and verifying correct offsets and parameters. Daily tasks include reading and interpreting engineering drawings, preparing workpieces, conducting trial runs, and inspecting first-off and in-process parts using appropriate measuring instruments. The role involves monitoring machine performance, adjusting settings for quality and efficiency, and reporting any deviations, tooling issues, or equipment faults to supervisors. The CNC Setter will also maintain a clean and safe work area, follow all safety procedures, and collaborate with operators, programmers, and quality teams to meet production targets and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, CNC setup sheets, and basic GD&T symbols.
- Hands-on experience in CNC machine setup (turning/milling), including tool selection, fixture setup, and offset adjustment.
- Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges for in-process inspection.
- Basic understanding of CNC programming concepts (G-code, M-code) and the ability to make minor program edits as required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Commitment to workplace safety, 5S practices, and preventive maintenance of machines and tools.
- Prior experience as a CNC Setter or Operator in machining or metal fabrication is preferred.
- Diploma/ITI in Mechanical, Tool & Die, Production, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Willingness to work in shifts as per production requirements and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
