Agnikul Cosmos is a company incubated at IIT Madras and we build rockets that can take satellites up to 500 kg to Lower Earth Orbit (LEO). In May 2024, we successfully completed our maiden launch from our own launchpad (India's first private launchpad). The launch has proven all the new technologies developed by Agnikul and also earned recognition from Honourable Prime Minister of India. Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC turning centers with Y-axis capability
Perform multi-axis machining operations including milling, drilling, and contouring on turning centers
Operate cylindrical grinding machines for OD/ID grinding applications
Select, mount, and dress grinding wheels as required
Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and process sheets
Set tool offsets, monitor tool life, and perform tool changes
Ensure machining is carried out within specified tolerances and surface finish requirements
Conduct in-process inspections using measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators
Maintain production and quality documentation
Follow aerospace quality standards and shop-floor procedures
Troubleshoot minor machining issues and escalate when necessary
Adhere to safety, 5S, and lean manufacturing practices
Requirements
ITI or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Strong hands-on experience with Y-axis CNC turning centers
Experience in cylindrical grinding (OD/ID grinding)
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T
Familiarity with CNC controls such as Fanuc or Siemens
Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments
Willingness to work near Kelambakkam, Chennai
Preferred:
Experience in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing
Exposure to tight tolerance machining (within 10–20 microns)
Basic knowledge of CNC programming or G-code editing
Experience machining hard materials such as Inconel or Titanium
