CMDB and Discovery Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

1. AWS Cloud Resource and on prem Discovery:

- Implement and manage AWS cloud resource discovery processes to ensure accurate and up-to-date inventory of cloud resources.

- Utilize AWS native tools and ServiceNow integrations to discover and map AWS cloud resources.

- Ensure that discovered cloud resources are accurately recorded in the CMDB.

- Collaborate with cloud architects and engineers to validate and refine cloud resource discovery processes.

- Develop and maintain documentation for AWS cloud resource discovery processes and procedures.

- Manage and optimize CMDB discovery processes to ensure comprehensive and accurate discovery of IT assets.

- Utilize ServiceNow Discovery tools to automate the identification and classification of configuration items (CIs).

- Ensure that discovered CIs are accurately recorded and maintained in the CMDB.

- Collaborate with IT operations and infrastructure teams to validate and refine discovery processes.

- Develop and maintain documentation for CMDB discovery processes and procedures.

2. Service Mapping:

- Perform service mapping to create a comprehensive view of IT services and their dependencies.

- Utilize ServiceNow Service Mapping tools to discover and map relationships between applications, services, and infrastructure components.

- Ensure that service maps are up-to-date and reflect the current state of the IT environment.

- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to validate and refine service maps.

- Develop and maintain documentation for service mapping processes and procedures.

4. Collaboration and Communication:

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, project managers, and IT operations, to ensure successful implementation of initiatives.

- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

- Provide training and support to team members and stakeholders on CMDB processes, service mapping, and AWS cloud resource discovery.

Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Masters degree is a plus.

- Proven experience in service mapping, and AWS cloud resource discovery.

- Strong knowledge of ServiceNow platform and its capabilities.

- Familiarity with AWS cloud services and resource management.

- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

- Relevant certifications such as ServiceNow Certified System Administrator, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or similar are highly desirable.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience with other IT service management (ITSM) and IT operations management (ITOM) tools.

- Knowledge of cloud computing, microservices architecture, and modern application development practices.

- Experience in conducting application rationalization and modernization initiatives.

- Strong project management skills and experience with Agile methodologies.
