We are seeking a talented Cloud Support Engineer to join our team and play a key role in helping our clients and prospects successfully adopt and deploy virtualization solutions.
Job SummaryAs a Solutions Engineer at Octos, you will act as a technical expert and trusted advisor to our clients and potential clients. You will collaborate closely with sales, customer success, and product teams to understand customer needs, recommend optimal deployment solutions, and provide assistance in provisioning and implementation. This role combines pre-sales technical support with post-sales guidance to ensure seamless onboarding, high customer satisfaction, and successful outcomes.
This is a customer-facing position that requires strong technical expertise in virtualization and cloud technologies, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical business solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Engage with prospective and existing clients to gather requirements, assess their infrastructure needs, and identify opportunities for VM deployments.
- Design and recommend tailored deployment for VM, considering factors such as scalability, performance, security, and cost-efficiency.
- Provide hands-on technical assistance in provisioning VMs, including setup, configuration, migration, and integration with existing systems.
- Conduct proof-of-concept (POC) demonstrations and technical presentations to showcase Octos Cloud solutions and address client concerns.
- Collaborate with the sales team during the pre-sales process to develop compelling proposals, respond to RFPs, and overcome technical objections.
- Support post-sales implementations by troubleshooting issues, optimizing deployments, and ensuring smooth transitions to production environments.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including deployment guides, best practices, and solution architectures.
- Stay current with industry trends in virtualization, cloud computing, and related technologies to provide informed recommendations.
- Work cross-functionally with product and engineering teams to relay customer feedback and influence product roadmap.
- Travel occasionally to client sites for on-site assessments, deployments, or training (as needed).
Qualifications and Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in a solutions engineering, sales engineering, cloud engineering, or similar customer-facing technical role.
- Proven hands-on experience with virtual machine deployment and provisioning, including technologies such as VMware (vSphere, ESXi), Hyper-V, KVM, or cloud-based VMs (AWS EC2, Azure VMs, Google Compute Engine).
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with virtualization concepts, networking, storage, security best practices, and hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience in pre-sales activities, such as demos, POCs, and RFP responses, is a plus.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., VMware VCP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Administrator) are highly desirable.
Preferred Skills- Scripting/programming experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation.
- Background in customer success or professional services.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple client engagements.
