Innovation Hub Overview

Jefferies is creating a Technology Innovation Hub in Pune, a greenfield opportunity to build the systems that power global markets. As our first India technology center, this hub brings together hands on builders who engineer the platforms behind Jefferies growth across capital markets, investment banking, and institutional securities. We're scaling toward an elite team of 500 engineers while maintaining the agility, ownership, and meritocratic spirit that defines Jefferies. From cloud and data to AI, risk, and core business technologies, teams in Pune will lead high impact work with a global mandate.

Team Overview

IT Infrastructure Technology

Jefferies IT Infrastructure Technology team builds and runs the core technology backbone that enables the firm to operate globally. It covers enterprise infrastructure engineering and operations while driving modernization initiatives such as Cloud Adoption and Network Resiliency. The group supports critical platforms including networking, end-user computing, cloud, databases, server/Unix engineering, communications, and global data centers (including low-latency colocations near exchanges).

Role Summary

Join our Cloud Infrastructure Team as a Cloud SRE focused on AWS EKS platform operations. You will support Kubernetes infrastructure, participate in incident response, drive automation through Terraform and GitOps, and ensure production systems meet SLO targets. This role offers hands-on experience with modern cloud-native technologies while contributing to the reliability and scalability of critical business platforms across APAC and EMEA regions.

You will partner closely with Cloud Architecture and Engineering, Platform Engineering, Networking, and Security teams to ensure platform reliability and resolve systemic issues. You will support global stakeholders across all business lines, requiring customer service orientation and clear communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and support Kubernetes platforms on AWS EKS: assist with cluster lifecycle activities, upgrades, scaling, and capacity monitoring
  • Participate in on-call rotation in a global team; respond to incidents, follow runbooks, and escalate appropriately
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform Enterprise, following team standards for modules, state management, and environment patterns
  • Implement GitOps deployment workflows using ArgoCD, Jenkins, Github Actions or similar CI/CD tools; support environment promotion and drift detection
  • Troubleshoot issues across Kubernetes and AWS infrastructure including ingress controllers, DNS, IAM/RBAC, autoscaling, and storage classes
  • Improve observability by creating dashboards, configuring alerting, and contributing to SLO/SLI reporting
  • Collaborate with Cloud Architecture and Engineering, Networking, and Security teams to resolve platform-level issues
  • Create and maintain runbooks, standard operating procedures, and knowledge transfer documentation for the team
  • Drive toil reduction through automation; identify repetitive manual tasks and propose scripted or agent-driven solutions
  • Contribute to post-incident reviews with a blameless approach; track corrective actions to completion
  • Maintain and update runbooks to ensure operational readiness; conduct knowledge transfer sessions
  • Support incident triage; coordinate with responders and drive service restoration
  • Contribute to SLO definition and tracking; reduce alert noise and improve signal quality

Requirements

  • 3-5 years in SRE, DevOps, or platform engineering with production system ownership
  • Solid Kubernetes operations knowledge: networking basics, ingress/controllers, RBAC, autoscaling, storage, troubleshooting
  • Strong AWS experience with foundational services (EC2, VPC, IAM, EKS); AWS Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect Associate certification preferred
  • Proficiency in Python or Go, plus shell scripting, with demonstrated automation experience
  • Experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, Bamboo, Bitbucket, GitLab)
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts: containers, availability patterns, security best practices
  • Proficiency using GenAI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot) for troubleshooting, code generation, documentation drafting, and design ideation
  • Ability to implement automation using AI agents (agentic workflows) with enterprise safety controls: human-in-the-loop approvals, comprehensive logging and auditability, guardrails, rollback mechanisms, and secure credential management
  • Proactive mindset to identify toil and ship automation that measurably reduces manual operational work; track and report time savings
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to work with global distributed teams
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence)

Preferred

  • CKAD (Certified Kubernetes Application Developer) certification
  • Terraform Enterprise experience (workspaces, policies, team workflows
  • Exposure to AKS or GKE for future multi-cloud expansion
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, OTEL)
  • Knowledge of service mesh technologies
