Greetings from Tesslogs,

We are seeking an experienced Hybrid Cloud SQL Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing both on-premises and cloud-based databases to ensure high performance, security, and availability. The primary focus of this role is on Microsoft SQL Server and Azure-based databases, with secondary exposure to Oracle databases.

Key Responsibilities

Database Support

  • Administer and support on-premises MS SQL Server and cloud-based databases.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents, including performance issues, connectivity problems, and data inconsistencies.

Database Performance Tuning

  • Monitor and optimize database performance through analysis of query execution plans, index usage, and database statistics.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to ensure optimal response times.

Database Security

  • Implement and enforce database security policies to prevent unauthorized access, data breaches, and data loss.
  • Configure user roles, permissions, and privileges based on the principle of least privilege.

Backup, Recovery, and Disaster Recovery

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies.
  • Perform regular backups, test restore procedures, and support disaster recovery planning to minimize downtime and data loss.

Monitoring and Maintenance

  • Monitor database health, availability, and capacity to proactively identify potential issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance activities such as index rebuilding, database reorganization, and statistics updates.

Documentation

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for database configurations, schemas, procedures, and operational processes.
  • Document database changes and maintain accurate data dictionaries.

Upgrades and Patching

  • Plan and execute database upgrades and apply security patches.
  • Coordinate with system administrators and vendors to ensure smooth and timely upgrade processes.

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Hands-on experience managing databases in both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud services.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • Microsoft Certified Database Administrator or related certifications are a plus.

Communication

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Technical Skills

Required

  • Strong expertise in MS SQL Server administration, including:
  • Performance tuning
  • Security management
  • Backup and recovery
  • Proficiency with Azure database technologies, including:
  • Azure SQL Database
  • Azure SQL Managed Instance
  • Cosmos DB
  • Solid understanding of:
  • Database concepts and architecture
  • SQL and query optimization techniques
  • Database security best practices
  • Experience with database monitoring and performance analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent documentation practices.
