GCP Cloud Architect – Infrastructure Modernization

Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled, hands-on GCP Cloud Architect to lead infrastructure modernization projects end-to-end—from initial architecture and execution through to successful closure. Partnering closely with Customer Engineering (CE) teams, you will build enterprise GCP Landing Zones, design complex migration frameworks, and deploy highly resilient, automated cloud-native solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- End-to-End Leadership: Act as the technical lead for modernization projects, collaborating with CE teams and clients to drive execution, manage cutovers, and mentor engineering teams.
- Architecture & Security: Design robust GCP Landing Zones (IAM, advanced VPC networking, billing). Architect secure hybrid-cloud environments integrating NGFWs (Palo Alto, Fortinet) and robust Disaster Recovery (DR)/backup strategies.
- Migration Execution: Architect and lead migrations for VM workloads, Databases, and Kubernetes (e.g., EKS/AKS to GKE) from AWS, Azure, or on-premise environments.
- End-to-End Automation: Mandate an automation-first approach using Terraform OSS. Architect CI/CD and GitOps pipelines ensure that all infrastructure, databases, and application deployments are strictly automated.
- Cloud-Native & Data: Re-platform legacy workloads utilizing containers (GKE), serverless (Cloud Run), diverse databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, etc.), and messaging brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Observability: Design comprehensive telemetry frameworks using GCP-native tools alongside platforms like Dynatrace, Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, or the ELK stack.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: 8–12 years in IT infrastructure/software engineering, with extensive hands-on architectural experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Migrations: Proven track record leading large-scale VM, Database, and K8s migrations, managing complex cutovers, and defining DR procedures.
- IaC & GitOps (Mandatory): High proficiency in Terraform OSS (Terraform HCP is a plus) and modern CI/CD/GitOps tools (Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Flux).
- Containers & Data: Deep expertise in Docker, Kubernetes (GKE), modern SQL/NoSQL databases, and messaging queues.
- Networking & Observability: Strong hands-on exposure to hybrid cloud networking, managing NGFWs, and implementing enterprise observability stacks.
- Source Environments: Preferred to have solid understanding of legacy on-premise infrastructure (VMware/Hyper-V, Windows/Linux OS, Active Directory, Citrix) and alternative clouds (AWS/Azure).
- Certifications: Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Architect (Highly Preferred).
