Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled
Database Engineer to join our Cloud Infrastructure team. In this role, you will play a key part in building and executing a
database migration factory, supporting the full SDLC lifecycle for migrating and transitioning databases to a cloud-based operating model.
You will collaborate closely with application teams, infrastructure, and SRE teams to ensure
reliable migrations, high-performance data operations, and seamless integrations, while driving automation and optimization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain scalable database structures (schemas, tables, indexes, functions).
- Manage database setup, configuration, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning.
- Implement automated schema versioning and deployment strategies.
- Plan and execute database migration projects (e.g., Oracle → PostgreSQL).
- Perform data validation, reconciliation, and integrity checks to ensure accuracy.
- Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues across environments.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and SRE teams for seamless data workflows.
- Implement database security best practices:
- Access control
- Encryption
- Auditing & compliance
- Provide L2/L3 support for database-related issues.
Required Skills- Strong expertise in relational databases: PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MS SQL Server
- Advanced SQL skills with experience in:
- Query optimization
- Indexing strategies
- Performance tuning
- Experience with cloud database platforms (GCP CloudSQL preferred)
- Hands-on experience with database migration tools (e.g., GCP DMS or equivalent)
- Experience with schema/version control tools (Liquibase, Flyway)
- Scripting knowledge: Shell / Python / PowerShell
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
Desired Skills
- Exposure to NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB)
- Familiarity with distributed systems and cloud-native architectures
- Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments
Nice to Have
- Experience in large-scale cloud migration programs
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, etc.)
- Understanding of monitoring tools and observability practices
