Jefferies is creating a Technology Innovation Hub in Pune, a greenfield opportunity to build the systems that power global markets. As our first India technology center, this hub brings together hands on builders who engineer the platforms behind Jefferies growth across capital markets, investment banking, and institutional securities. Team Overview

IT Infrastructure Technology

Jefferies IT Infrastructure Technology team builds and runs the core technology backbone that enables the firm to operate globally. It covers enterprise infrastructure engineering and operations while driving modernization initiatives such as Cloud Adoption and Network Resiliency. The group supports critical platforms including networking, end-user computing, cloud, databases, server/Unix engineering, communications, and global data centers (including low-latency colocations near exchanges).

Role Summary

Transform data into actionable insights. As a Cloud Data Analyst, you will build data models, design self-service analytics solutions, create dashboards and reports, and partner with business stakeholders to understand their analytical needs. You will combine SQL expertise, data visualization skills, and business acumen to deliver high-quality analytics products on modern cloud data platforms.

You will partner closely with business stakeholders across Equities, Investment Banking, Operations, Finance, and other divisions to deliver analytics that drive decision-making. You will also collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Platform Engineers, and ML Engineers to ensure data quality and availability. Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills are. Experience working in Agile environments using Jira and Confluence is expected.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with business stakeholders (Equities, Investment Banking, Operations) to understand analytical requirements and translate them into data models, dashboards, and reports

• Design and build data models optimized for analytics and reporting using SQL, dbt (data build tool), or similar transformation frameworks
• Develop and maintain self-service analytics solutions using BI platforms (Tableau, PowerBI, Looker, or QuickSight); ensure usability, performance, and governance
• Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights; deliver actionable recommendations to business leaders, especially around cloud infrastructure and platform costs, performance and savings opportunities
• Build and maintain metrics, KPIs, and business intelligence dashboards; ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business definitions
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to define data requirements, data quality standards, and pipeline SLAs; provide feedback on data availability and usability
• Implement data quality checks and validation logic; proactively identify and resolve data anomalies or inconsistencies
• Document data models, analytical methodologies, and reporting logic; contribute to team knowledge base and best practices
• Drive adoption of analytics best practices, data points and created reports: data literacy, self-service enablement, and governance standards
• Leverage GenAI tools to accelerate SQL development, analysis, and insight generation
• Support ad-hoc analytical requests and business intelligence initiatives
• Continuously improve analytics workflows and reduce manual reporting toil through automation
  
  

Requirements

7+ years in analytics engineering, data analytics, business intelligence, or quantitative analysis roles

• Expert-level SQL skills; ability to write complex queries, optimize performance, and work with large datasets
• Strong experience with data modeling for analytics: dimensional modeling, star schema, data mart design
• Proficiency with BI and visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Looker, or AWS QuickSight); ability to design intuitive, impactful dashboards
• Experience with dbt (data build tool) or similar transformation frameworks is highly preferred
• Strong understanding of cloud data platforms (AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks) and data warehousing concepts
• Experience with Cloud Cost Management and Optimization platforms (Apptio Cloudability, Cloudhealth, Yotascale, etc.)
• Analytical mindset with strong business acumen; ability to translate business questions into data analysis
• Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and automation is a plus
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills; ability to present findings to non-technical audiences
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills; customer service orientation
• Proficiency using GenAI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot) for SQL generation, data exploration, report drafting, and insight synthesis
• Ability to implement AI agent-driven automation (agentic workflows) for analytics tasks (e.g., automated report generation, anomaly detection, KPI alerting) with enterprise safety controls: human-in-the-loop review, logging and auditability, guardrails to prevent erroneous conclusions, and secure data access
• Proactive approach to identifying repetitive analytical tasks; ship automation that measurably reduces manual reporting effort and accelerates insight delivery
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD workflows for analytics code
• Background in financial services, capital markets, or investment banking analytics
• Experience with statistical analysis, A/B testing, or predictive analytics
• Knowledge of data governance, data quality frameworks, and metadata management
• AWS Certified Data Analytics or equivalent certification
