Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary Technical Lead to spearhead the containerization, migration, and operationalization of our core legacy software onto Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). You will be the architect and execution lead for a mission-critical project focused on transforming legacy infrastructure into a highly resilient, automated, and cloud-native ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
1. Architecture & Containerization
- Legacy Modernization: Design and implement a containerization strategy for legacy software, ensuring stable operation within AKS.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Lead the automated provisioning and lifecycle management of the platform using Terraform, Bicep, or Pulumi.
- Feature Adaptation: Collaborate with developers to ensure core software and FDS features (Storage, Gateway, Core Services) are optimized for a distributed, containerized environment.
2. Migration & Lifecycle Management
- Data-Driven Migration: Develop and execute a robust migration path for non-containerized application instances to AKS, prioritizing data integrity and minimal downtime.
- Automated CI/CD: Build end-to-end pipelines for application updates, automated rollbacks, and platform upgrades (e.g., AKS versioning and node image patching).
3. Resilience, Observability & Security
- Full-Stack Observability: Implement a comprehensive monitoring and logging suite (Azure Monitor, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK) with defined retention and alerting policies.
- Disaster Recovery: Establish automated backup, environment cloning, and BCP/DR (Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery) capabilities.
- Compliance: Lead the Azure Well-Architected Review and Threat Risk Assessment (TRA), ensuring the infrastructure meets all security and governance standards.
4. Leadership & Enablement
- Operational Handoff: Author high-quality Cookbooks and Runbooks. Conduct knowledge transfer sessions to SRE and Operations teams.
- Stakeholder Management: Work closely with CApS and security teams to align technical delivery with organizational requirements.
Essential Experience
- Azure Mastery: Deep expertise in Azure networking, storage, and identity management (Entra ID/RBAC).
- Kubernetes Expert: Extensive experience managing AKS in production, including Helm charts, Ingress controllers, and service meshes.
- Migration Track Record: Proven experience migrating stateful legacy applications into containers.
- Testing & Benchmarking: Experience with automated infrastructural and resilience testing (e.g., Chaos Engineering, load testing).
Preferred Tools & Skills
- CI/CD: Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions.
- Security: Azure Key Vault, Defender for Cloud, Network Security Groups.
- Legacy Integration: Familiarity with J2EE legacy stack environments is a plus.
