About the Role

The Clinical Psychologist will be responsible for conducting psychological assessments, diagnosis, and evidence-based interventions for children and adolescents presenting with developmental, behavioral, emotional, and learning difficulties. The role involves close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team including occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, special educators, pediatricians, and psychiatrists to ensure holistic care.

Responsibilities

  • A. Psychological Assessment
  • Conduct comprehensive psycho-diagnostic evaluations using standardized and culturally appropriate tools.
  • Assess developmental, cognitive, behavioral, emotional, adaptive, and social functioning.
  • Administer and interpret psychometric assessments such as:
  • Intelligence tests (e.g., WISC-V India, MISIC, Binet-Kamat Test)
  • Autism assessments (e.g., ADOS-2, CARS-2, ISAA)
  • ADHD and behavioral scales (e.g., Conners-3, Vanderbilt ADHD Rating Scales)
  • Learning disability assessments (e.g., NIMHANS SLD Battery)
  • Adaptive behavior scales (e.g., Vineland-II/III)
  • Prepare detailed psychological and psycho-educational assessment reports.

  • B. Diagnosis and Case Formulation
  • Provide DSM-5-TR and ICD-11 based diagnoses.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and contribute to individualized intervention plans.
  • Assist in disability certification and documentation as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016.

  • C. Therapeutic Interventions
  • Deliver evidence-based psychological interventions, including:
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Behavior Therapy and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles
  • Parent Management Training (PMT)
  • Social Skills Training
  • Play Therapy
  • Emotional and behavioral regulation strategies
  • Develop and implement Individualized Intervention Plans (IIPs).

  • D. Parent and Family Support
  • Provide psychoeducation and counseling to parents and caregivers.
  • Conduct parent training programs focusing on behavior management and developmental support.
  • Guide families regarding home-based intervention strategies and school accommodations.

  • E. Collaboration and Multidisciplinary Work
  • Work closely with occupational therapists, speech therapists, special educators, pediatricians, and psychiatrists.
  • Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) discussions.
  • Liaise with schools and other community agencies when required.

  • F. Documentation and Compliance
  • Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records.
  • Prepare clinical summaries, progress notes, and discharge reports.

  • G. Training, Research, and Community Outreach
  • Conduct workshops, awareness programs, and training sessions for parents, teachers, and professionals.
  • Supervise interns and trainees in clinical psychology.
  • Participate in research activities and contribute to program development.
  • Engage in community outreach and early identification initiatives

Qualifications

  • Essential Qualifications
  • M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology from an RCI-recognized institution
  • OR
  • Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).
  • Valid RCI Registration Number (mandatory).
  • Desirable Qualifications
  • Additional certifications in child and adolescent mental health, ABA, or neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Experience working in a child development or early intervention setting

Experience

  • Minimum: 1–2 years of post-qualification clinical experience with children and adolescents.
  • Preferred: Experience in multidisciplinary teams and early intervention programs.
