1. Primary Function
The Clinical Application Specialist (CAS) is responsible for facilitating the early adoption and seamless integration of robotic minimally invasive surgical systems in healthcare facilities. Acting as a primary point of contact, the CAS ensures effective training, procedural support, and technical assistance for clinicians, contributing to safe and efficient system utilization.
2. Key Responsibilities -
- Serve as the primary liaison for new robotic system installations, ensuring smooth onboarding and early adoption.
- Provide expert clinical and technical assistance during surgical procedures to support surgeons and operating room (OR) staff.
- Collaborate with Clinical Applications Engineering teams to assist new users in overcoming the system learning curve.
- Actively gather and report feedback from clinical users to improve procedures, training programs, and system design.
- Maintain consistent communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including development and training teams.
- Ensure compliance with best practices, company protocols, and clinical documentation requirements.
3. Technical Intervention and Clinician/HCP Support in OT
- Deliver on-site support for surgeons and hospital staff during robotic procedures, focusing on port placement and patient positioning per established protocols.
- Address technical challenges and provide real-time troubleshooting during clinical operations.
- Ensure adherence to clinical and operational safety standards in the OR.
4. Technical Assistance and Clinical Support
- Provide clear, concise technical guidance and solutions during procedures and training sessions.
- Proactively report adverse events, system performance issues, and instrument feedback through proper documentation channels, such as SM tickets and feedback forms.
- Maintain an inventory of instruments and accessories to ensure uninterrupted surgical workflows.
- Perform critical clinical documentation and reporting post-procedure.
5. Demonstrating Robotic Installation and Applications
- Lead demonstrations of robotic system installations, highlighting functionality and clinical applications to hospital stakeholders.
- Deliver intensive training for surgeons, first assistants, and OR staff on the effective use of robotic systems.
- Showcase advanced system capabilities and facilitate specialized training programs.
6. Seamless Technological Assistance and Support
- Ensure consistent and reliable technical assistance across all training and clinical engagements.
- Act as the face of the organization, fostering trust and confidence in the technology among healthcare professionals.
- Stay current with product updates, clinical guidelines, and scientific advancements to provide the highest level of support.
7. Serviceability and Seamless Assistance
- Maintain training center logistics, inventory, and capital equipment to support operational readiness.
- Monitor and ensure timely completion of training prerequisites, certification issuance, and training metrics documentation.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of training programs and organizational goals.
