Key Responsibilities
Marine Piling Supervision (Primary Focus):
oOversee all daily marine pilingoperations (e.g., steel tubular piles, spun piles) from jack-up barges, temporary trestles, or land-based equipment.
oEnsure precise pile positioning and verticality in coordination with the survey team, using GPS and total stations.
oMonitor and meticulously record piling logs, including drive depths, set criteria, hammer energy, and any obstructions.
oInspect pile-driving equipment, pile handling, and welding/splicing (if applicable).
Jetty Superstructure (Concrete Works):
oManage all in-situ civil constructionover water, including pile caps, headstocks, beams, and the main deck slab.
oSupervise the installation of complex formwork systems (e.g., Doka, PERI) required for over-water casting.
oCoordinate and manage the erection and installation of precast elements(e.g., precast beams, deck slabs, concrete blocks).
oEnsure proper grouting, reinforcement fixing, concrete pouring, and curing as per specifications, especially in a saline marine environment.
Rock Bund & Earthworks:
oSupervise the construction of the jetty's approach rock bundand/or associated revetments.
oEnsure correct placement, grading, and profiling of rock filter layers and armour rock according to design cross-sections.
oCoordinate with the survey team for quantity tracking and as-built verification.
Quality, Safety & Coordination (HSE/QC):
oImplement and enforce the project-specific Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) plans for all piling, concrete, and rock work.
oConduct regular site inspections and raise Inspection Requests (IRs) for client approval.
oChampion a safety-first culture, paying extreme attention to the risks associated with work over water, marine plant, and heavy lifting.
oMaintain detailed daily progress reports, site diaries, and as-built records.
oLiaise with subcontractors, the survey team, and the marine plant superintendent.
3. Required Qualifications & Experience
Education:Bachelor's Degree (B.Tech / B.E.) in Civil Engineering.
Total Experience:Minimum 5 yearsand maximum 10 yearsof progressive experience in heavy civil construction.
Core Experience (Must-Haves):
oA minimum of 3-4 years of direct, hands-on experience on marine/port/harbour projects(e.g., jetties, wharves, quays, bridges, breakwaters).
oEssential & Proven Experience:Direct supervision and technical management of marine piling operations(barge-based or trestle-based).
oEssential & Proven Experience:Strong background in over-water in-situ concrete constructionand the erection of precast structural elements.
oDemonstrable experience in rock bundor revetment construction and profiling.
oProficiency in reading and interpreting complex marine structure drawings and specifications.
4. Preferred Skills & Attributes
Project Experience:Prior experience working on large-scale port projects in India (e.g., Mundra, JNPT, Gangavaram, or other similar deep-water ports) is highly advantageous.
Location Specific:Familiarity with the work environment in Kerala or the southern coastal region of India is a plus.
Technical Skills:
oKnowledge of different piling techniques (driven, bored) and associated equipment (hydraulic hammers, vibro-hammers).
oUnderstanding of marine plant and logistics (e.g., jack-up barges, tugs, cranes).
Soft Skills:
oStrong leadership and subcontractor management skills.
oExcellent problem-solving abilities to address on-site technical challenges.
oClear communication and reporting skills.
oResilient and capable of working under pressure to meet project deadlines.
