Civil Engineer

Role: Civil Engineer

Reporting To: Project Manager /Senior Engineer / Site In-charge.

Location: Head Office - Nariman Point (with Routine Site Visits - Alibaug)

Job Purpose

The Engineer will be responsible for the technical review of drawings, preparation of BOQs, certification of contractor bills, rate analysis, verification and periodic site visits. The role supports project cost control, quality compliance and contractor coordination from the head office.

Key Responsibilities

1. Drawing Review & Technical Understanding

Read and interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings.

Identify discrepancies and coordinate clarifications with consultants.

Extract quantities from drawings for BOQ and billing verification.

2. BOQ Preparation & Quantity Take-Off

Prepare detailed BOQs based on approved drawings and specifications.

Conduct quantity take-offs for civil and finishing works.

Update BOQs as per revisions and design changes.

3. Billing & Certification

Verify contractor running and final bills based on actual work done.

Cross-check quantities with drawings, site measurements and BOQ.

Recommend certification for payment after technical and quantity validation.

4. Site Verification & Monitoring

Conduct routine site visits to verify progress and executed quantities.

Check the quality of work and material usage during visits.

Coordinate with site engineers for clarifications and reporting.

5. Material & Technical Knowledge

Possess strong knowledge of construction materials and specifications.

Verify material approvals and compliance with standards.

Support technical evaluation of alternative materials if required.

6. Rate Analysis & Contractor Verification

Conduct rate analysis for civil and finishing works.

Verify contractor quoted rates against market standards.

Assist in negotiation and cost control through rate validation.

Key Skills & Competencies Required

Strong drawing, reading and quantity take-off skills.

Good understanding of BOQ preparation and billing procedures.

Knowledge of construction materials and market rates.

Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office and AutoCAD.

Strong analytical and verification skills.

Good coordination and communication ability.

Educational & Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Civil Engineering.

510 years of site experience.

Experience in residential/commercial projects preferred.
