Job Title: Cinematic Animator (Camera & Basic Rigging)
Role Overview:
A Cinematic Animator is responsible for creating visually compelling camera animations and animated sequences for films, videos, and simulations. This role combines cinematography, animation, and basic rigging to deliver high-quality storytelling and polished visuals.
Key Responsibilities:
Create cinematic camera animations for sequences and shots
Design camera movements such as pan, tilt, dolly, crane, and tracking shots
Translate storyboards and scripts into engaging visual sequences
Animate characters, props, and mechanical elements
Perform basic rigging for animation-ready assets
Work with composition, framing, and visual storytelling principles
Collaborate with modeling, lighting, and rendering teams
Maintain continuity and shot consistency across sequences
Refine animations based on director or client feedback
Troubleshoot animation and rigging issues
Deliverables:
Cinematic shots and sequences
Camera animation setups
Basic rigged assets
Final animation outputs ready for rendering
Technical Skills Required:
Strong understanding of cinematography (composition, framing, camera language)
Knowledge of animation principles (timing, spacing, weight, motion)
Basic knowledge of rigging (joints, IK/FK, skinning fundamentals)
Proficiency in Autodesk Maya and Blender
Ability to create smooth, natural camera motion and transitions
Understanding of rendering workflows and scene setup
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Animation, VFX, Multimedia, or related field
(or equivalent practical experience with a strong portfolio)
Experience:
25 years in Animation / Cinematics / VFX / Film production
Soft Skills:
Strong visual storytelling ability
Attention to detail and artistic sense
Ability to work within a team and production pipeline
Good communication and feedback handling
Creative problem-solving
Preferred Skills:
Understanding of lighting and shot composition
Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro
Familiarity with previsualization (previs) workflows
