Position: Chinese Media & Pop Culture Writer Intern

Responsibilities:
- Research and write engaging articles, news stories, features, explainers, and opinion pieces on Chinese media, C-dramas, C-pop, films, television, gaming, donghua (Chinese animation), web novels, fashion, celebrities, and contemporary pop culture
- Stay updated on the latest developments, releases, trends, and events in China's entertainment, media, and digital content industries
- Cover news related to Chinese television dramas, films, music releases, streaming platforms, gaming, celebrity culture, internet trends, fashion, and major entertainment companies
- Produce feature stories on Chinese pop culture phenomena, fandom communities, conventions, digital creators, influencers, and the global impact of Chinese entertainment
- Assist in creating digital content, including listicles, recommendations, interviews, reviews, and trend-based articles focused on Chinese media and culture
- Conduct thorough fact-checking and background research to ensure accuracy, credibility, and cultural sensitivity
- Generate fresh story ideas and contribute to editorial planning focused on Chinese media, entertainment, and popular culture
- Collaborate with editorial and social media teams to promote Chinese entertainment and pop culture content across digital platforms
- Monitor audience interests, social media discussions, streaming trends, and emerging topics within Chinese entertainment and fandom communities
- Ensure all content adheres to editorial standards, ethical journalism practices, copyright guidelines, and brand values
Requirements:
- Strong interest in Chinese media, C-dramas, C-pop, films, television, gaming, donghua, web novels, fashion, celebrity culture, and contemporary Chinese pop culture
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to research, analyze, and present information in an engaging and accessible manner
- Strong storytelling, feature writing, and creative writing skills
- Familiarity with Chinese entertainment trends, major production studios, streaming platforms, creators, artists, actors, gaming companies, and digital media ecosystems
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing well-researched, accurate, and culturally respectful content
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment
- Basic understanding of SEO, content optimization, and digital publishing is a plus
- Knowledge of the Chinese language (Mandarin) is an advantage but not mandatory
- Previous writing, blogging, content creation, entertainment journalism, pop culture reporting, or related experience is an advantage but not mandatory
