About Newton School of Technology :

Newton School of Technology (NST) is a new-age tech institution within ADYPU, Pune, focused on producing industry-ready graduates. NST operates three student hostels YS-1 and YS-2 (off-campus) and one on-campus hostel housing its entire residential student body. NST seeks a Chief Warden to provide unified, authoritative leadership across all three residences.

Role Summary :

The Chief Warden is the principal authority for all student residential matters at NST. This senior leadership role requires a candidate with a strong disciplinary background ideally retired military or paramilitary who can establish order, accountability, and a culture of safety across all three hostels. The role demands local fluency in Marathi, established community relationships in the Lohegaon area, and the ability to interface directly with police, municipal bodies, and neighbourhood communities.

Key Responsibilities :
1. Leadership & Governance :

Serve as the single point of command for all three hostels; establish and enforce a unified code of conduct and operational standards.
Develop a Hostel Administration Manual covering admissions, discipline, grievance redressal, mess, visitor, and emergency protocols.
Chair periodic Hostel Governance Committee meetings with all three wardens.

2. Discipline & Student Conduct :
Enforce zero-tolerance policies on substance abuse, ragging, bullying, and harassment (UGC-compliant).
Investigate and adjudicate disciplinary cases; conduct regular announced and surprise hostel inspections.
Oversee biometric/RFID entry logs, overnight absence tracking, and guest registration.

3. Safety, Security & Emergency Management :
Maintain comprehensive security across all hostels: CCTV, access control, 24/7 staffing.
Develop and test Emergency Response Plans; conduct minimum two fire drills per semester.
Serve as on-ground Incident Commander; maintain a 24/7 emergency hotline for students and parents.

4. Community Relations & Local Liaison :
Build and maintain working relationships with Lohegaon Police Station and Pune City Police.
Proactively manage neighbourhood relations around YS-1 and YS-2 to prevent and resolve community friction.
Liaise with PMC, fire department, and health inspectors for compliance, licensing, and inspections.

5. Student Welfare:
Organise community-building activities; implement monthly feedback mechanisms.
Coordinate with the NST Campus team on at-risk student monitoring.

6. Operations & Vendor Management :
Oversee end-to-end hostel operations: mess, housekeeping, maintenance, pest control, and waste management.
Manage vendor contracts and SLAs; conduct periodic performance reviews.
Prepare and manage the annual hostel budget; ensure inventory audits and replenishment.

7. People Management :
Directly supervise three Hostel Wardens; set KPIs and conduct quarterly reviews.
Recruit, train, and manage security, housekeeping, and mess staff.
Train all staff on fire safety, first aid, anti-ragging, and conflict resolution.

8. Reporting & Compliance :
Submit timely reports covering occupancy, incidents, maintenance, financials, and student feedback.
Ensure full compliance with UGC, AICTE, and university hostel regulations.

Requirements :

Retired military, paramilitary, or armed forces officer (preferably Major/equivalent or above); OR senior professional with strong institutional administration background.
Bachelor's degree from a recognised university.
10+ years of overall experience, with 35 years in residential/hostel/campus management.
Fluency in Marathi (spoken & written) is mandatory; Hindi and English also required.
Direct experience managing student hostels at a university, boarding school, or residential institution.
Must be a Pune resident or willing to relocate and reside on/near campus.

Preferred :

Postgraduate in Management, Public Administration, or Defence Studies.
Certifications in fire safety, disaster management, or first aid.
Familiarity with Lohegaon and established local law enforcement relationships.
Experience with biometric access, ERP hostel modules, or CCTV monitoring systems

Working Conditions :

Residential or near-residential role; on-call 24/7 for emergencies.
Regular presence required during evenings and weekends; structured weekly off and leave policy applies.
Daily travel between YS-1, YS-2, and the on-campus hostel is expected.
