Position Summary:
Dayananda Sagar University is seeking a dynamic and disciplined Chief Security Officer (CSO) to lead and oversee the overall security operations across all campuses. The CSO will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, visitors, and infrastructure, while enforcing campus policies and emergency protocols. This leadership position requires strong administrative skills, integrity, and the ability to operate in a university environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, plan, and coordinate all aspects of security operations across university campuses.
- Develop and implement campus security protocols, crisis management, and emergency response procedures.
- Supervise and train the internal security team and liaise with outsourced security agencies.
- Maintain vigilance over campus access points, ensure perimeter security, and monitor CCTV surveillance systems.
- Liaise with local police, fire departments, and other relevant government/security agencies as necessary.
- Conduct security audits, threat assessments, and risk analyses periodically.
- Handle situations involving student discipline, theft, vandalism, protests, and any unlawful activities with fairness and firmness.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to campus safety and security.
- Develop and maintain incident reporting systems and security documentation.
- Oversee the development of fire safety procedures and ensure availability and maintenance of firefighting equipment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Retired Officer from Paramilitary Forces (e.g., CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF, SSB) with the rank of at least Deputy Commandant or equivalent.
- Minimum 15 years of service experience in the paramilitary forces, preferably with exposure to campus, industrial, or institutional security.
- Proven leadership and crisis management skills.
- Experience in handling security operations in an educational or large institutional setup is preferred.
