Role Overview

The Chief Platform Architect – BIM Automation & AI will lead Client's platform strategy at the intersection of BIM engineering, virtual design and construction, and AI-led automation. This role requires a strong core BIM professional with hands-on experience in Revit and allied BIM technologies, a deep understanding of multidisciplinary AEC workflows, and a minimum of 5+ years of practical leadership in AI, automation, scripting, data-driven delivery, or digital transformation initiatives.

The incumbent will lead and provide strategic direction to an existing team of approximately 20 R&D members, define platform capabilities, standardise BIM production intelligence, and work closely with delivery, product, technology, and client-facing teams to build scalable solutions for engineering and construction workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform Strategy & BIM Productization
  • Define the vision, roadmap, and operating model for Client's PiVDC / BIM Engineering Construction platform.
  • Convert repetitive BIM engineering workflows into standardised, scalable, and technology-enabled platform capabilities.
  • Identify high-impact use cases across design coordination, model authoring, clash management, quantity extraction, constructability review, and drawing automation.
  • Translate business and delivery needs into platform features, automation priorities, and measurable productivity outcomes.
  • BIM Engineering & Revit Domain Leadership
  • Guide teams on BIM standards, templates, families, LOD/LOI requirements, model health, QA/QC, and project setup best practices.
  • Ensure platform solutions remain grounded in real production workflows for architecture, structure, MEP, and construction coordination.
  • Drive standardisation of BIM execution processes across geographies, client types, and project typologies.
  • AI, Automation & Digital Transformation
  • Lead automation initiatives using AI, rule-based automation, scripts, APIs, data models, and workflow engines to improve BIM delivery speed and accuracy.
  • Work with technology teams to build AI-assisted tools for model validation, drawing checks, quantity take-off, issue detection, design-rule compliance, and productivity analytics.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies including generative AI, computer vision, digital twins, BIM data lakes, and model intelligence for practical enterprise adoption.
  • Define governance for AI usage, data quality, model reliability, responsible automation, data privacy, and ethical AI practices within BIM workflows.
  • Establish an Ethical AI Framework governing the use of AI tools trained on client project data, ensuring auditability, model reliability, and compliance with data privacy protocols.
  • Ensure alignment of all AI/automation initiatives with ISO 19650 information management standards and applicable regulatory requirements.

Production-Specific Automation Use Cases To Prioritise

    • Modelling Automation: Parametric family creation, automated model setup, template-driven project initialisation via Dynamo / Revit API
    • Shop Drawing Production: Automated sheet generation, view creation, annotation, and dimensioning routines to accelerate drawing deliverables
    • Coordination & Clash Detection: Automated clash reporting workflows, BCF issue management integration, and resolution tracking dashboards
    • Quantity Take-Off (QTO): Model-based automated QTO, schedule extraction, and integration with estimation or ERP tools
    • Drawing Quality Checks: Rule-based automated QC for drawing standards, layer/naming conventions, and LOD compliance verification
    • AI-Assisted Design Review: Computer vision for drawing anomaly detection and generative design option evaluation
    • Productivity Analytics: Automated parsing of BPMS and ProHance data for efficiency reporting, bottleneck identification, and resource utilisation dashboards
    • Team Leadership & R&D Management
    • Lead, mentor, and provide strategic direction to an existing team of approximately 20 R&D members comprising BIM technologists, automation developers, and digital delivery specialists.
    • Define team structure, work allocation, performance objectives, and professional development pathways for R&D personnel.
    • Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and disciplined delivery within the R&D team.
    • Oversee the Proof-of-Concept (POC) to Production pipeline — governing the transition of validated tools and automation solutions into live production workflows.
    • Collaborate with the Pi-VDC team to align platform development priorities with production delivery requirements.
    • Cross-functional Collaboration
    • Collaborate closely with delivery heads, project managers, software engineering, data/AI teams, sales, and client success teams.
    • Bridge the gap between BIM operations and technology teams by translating domain problems into clear functional requirements.
    • Support client demonstrations, solutioning, proposals, and strategic discussions where BIM platform capability is a competitive differentiator.
    • Represent Client at industry events, BIM conferences, and thought leadership forums to strengthen brand visibility in the digital transformation space.
    • Internal Systems Integration
    • Own the data architecture connecting production tools (BPMS, ProHance, PiVDC) to analytics pipelines and AI models.
    • Ensure seamless integration of automation outputs with BPMS for real-time performance tracking and KPI reporting.
    • Leverage ProHance productivity data to identify workflow inefficiencies and prioritise automation interventions.
    • Collaborate with IT and product teams to ensure platform tools are fully integrated with existing ERP, project management, and estimation systems.
    • Governance, Quality & Business Impact
