Application Requirements
Problem Statement :
Several agricultural regions in India continue to depend heavily on a narrow set of crops due to established procurement systems, existing market structures, farmer familiarity, and perceived income security. While this model has supported food production for decades, policymakers increasingly face challenges related to groundwater stress, soil degradation, climate vulnerability, fiscal sustainability, and limited crop diversification.
State governments are actively exploring pathways to encourage adoption of alternative crops and production systems without reducing farmer income or increasing commercial risk.
Assume you are advising a technology company with operational presence in agricultural supply chains, soil and crop intelligence infrastructure, and established government relationships.
Answer all four of the following:
1. Which crop, crop category, or production system would you prioritise for diversification, and why
2. Which government scheme, policy instrument, incentive mechanism, or public-private partnership model would you utilise to accelerate adoption
3. How would you design a market linkage framework that ensures economic viability for farmers from the first production cycle
4. Describe a district-scale pilot that could be implemented within six months and generate sufficient evidence for state-wide expansion.
This role is intended for candidates comfortable operating under ambiguity, navigating complex institutional environments, and taking complete ownership of outcomes.
