Job Overview

The Chief of Staff (Manufacturing & Operational Excellence) will partner closely with the CEO to provide strategic oversight and insight into Bayport's manufacturing and supply chain functions. The role requires a deep understanding of manufacturing and quality excellence, with the ability to identify opportunities, anticipate risks, and guide improvements that strengthen efficiency, cost effectiveness, and sustainable profitability across a global, multi-plant footprint.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CEO to review manufacturing and supply chain performance, surfacing insights, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Apply Operational Excellence frameworks (Lean, Six Sigma, TQM, TPM) to assess processes and recommend enhancements in efficiency, quality, and cost.
  • Engage with plant and functional leadership to challenge assumptions, validate plans, and shape improvement priorities aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead focused reviews and diagnostic projects on key areas such as quality, productivity, cost optimization, or supply chain effectiveness.
  • Track and analyze KPIs at an executive level, highlighting trends and ensuring leadership has the visibility to act decisively.
  • Provide benchmarking and external best practices to help Bayport's manufacturing operations stay competitive and future-ready.
  • Facilitate cross-functional problem-solving when critical issues span manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial teams.
  • Represent the CEO's office in internal and external engagements, reinforcing Bayport's commitment to manufacturing excellence and customer-first quality.

Qualifications

  • 410 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, or operational excellence, ideally with exposure to multi-plant or global operations.
  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Industrial, or related) from a reputed institute (IITs/NITs) and/or MBA from Tier 1 Institutes like IIM Mumbai.
  • Recognized expertise in Lean, Six Sigma (Black Belt preferred), TQM, TPM, or Business Excellence frameworks.
  • Demonstrated track record in process improvement, cost optimization, and quality transformation initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex operations into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and executive presence, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and foster collaboration across geographies.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce-driven manufacturing or supply chain models is an advantage.
