Type of employment: This is a contractual role under Project Management Unit (PMU) of GeM.

Location: This position is based in New Delhi

Job Summary: As a Chief Manager / General Manager / AVP Solution Architect at GeM, you will play a pivotal role in steering the architectural design and microservices strategy for our software products for e-commerce and e-marketplace systems for procurement. You will be responsible for selection and usage of appropriate services and solutions available on cloud, such as AWS, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, multi-tenancy, resiliency, and compliance for the applications. Your problem-solving skills will be crucial as you innovate solutions to align with business goals. As part of your role, you will document architectural artifacts to maintain a comprehensive record of our systems. Additionally, you will conduct regular architectural reviews to identify and implement improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as custodian of GeM's application and platform architecture, ensuring solutions remain compliant, scalable, multi-tenant and aligned with enterprise principles.
• Apply Domain Driven Design (DDD) practices to model business domains, define bounded contexts, and ensure MSP implementations reflect GeM's product and business vision.
• Govern delivery through design reviews, checkpoints, and periodic audits to ensure accountability.
• Maintain and update architectural artifacts, decision logs, and documentation for audit, compliance, and stakeholder communication.
• Provide handson technical leadership: troubleshoot issues, validate implementations, and develop automation/monitoring utilities to strengthen resilience.
• Collaborate on cloud application and integration architecture decisions, working with the Infrastructure, Security, and Integration domains for alignment and compliance.
• Enable AI/ML adoption: validate proposals of AI/ML use cases, ensure responsible integration into GeM's platform, and promote datadriven decision making.
• Guide Data Platform evolution: ensure data pipelines, storage, and analytics platforms align with GeM's enterprise data strategy, scalability, and compliance requirements.
• Support system optimization, CI/CD, observability, and disaster recovery practices.
• Champion innovation and continuous improvement by introducing emerging technologies, benchmarking solutions, and supporting controlled pilots.
• Communicate effectively with executives, regulators, and stakeholders, translating technical concepts into clear, actionable insights.
• Any other responsibility as may be assigned from time to time.

Education Qualifications

Essential: Bachelor of engineering (B.E.) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Science or Information Technology from a recognized University

Professional Experience

• 11+ years of IT experience, with at least 3 years leading solution architecture for enterprise platforms or products.
• Handson experience in designing and developing solutions on cloud platforms (preferably AWS), leveraging opensource and cloudnative services, with exposure to multitenant architectures.
• Expertise in Microservices architecture, REST APIs, and applying DomainDriven Design (DDD) principles.
• Strong exposure to modern integration and messaging platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis) and databases (RDBMS and NoSQL).
• Experience with OpenAPI specifications and identity management standards (SAML 2.0, OpenID, JWT, OAuth 2.0).
• Proven ability to create and review architectural artefacts (HLD, LLD, UML diagrams) and apply DDD principles in product design.
• Solid grounding in development methodologies, frameworks, and design patterns, with fullstack exposure (Java, Spring Boot, React.js/native, and related stacks).
• Familiarity with Agile practices and integration of DevSecOps principles.

Other Desirable skills

• Experience in software architecting within the e commerce domain, particularly with MACH architecture.
• Relevant architecture certifications (e.g., TOGAF or similar) demonstrating extensive knowledge of software architecting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex systems and make data driven decisions.

GeM selection committee reserves the right to relax or extend the eligibility criteria and educational qualifications.
