Chief Information & Technology Officer (CITO) — IILM Greater Noida
Location: Greater Noida
Reporting to: Vice Chancellor
Employment: Full-time
About IILM
IILM Group of Institutions is a multi-campus private higher education group with over
three decades of legacy in management, law, engineering, design and liberal-arts
education, operating through IILM University and its constituent institutes across
Gurugram, Greater Noida, Delhi, Jaipur and Lucknow. As the Group scales its
academic footprint, pursues university status across campuses, and competes for
students and faculty in an increasingly digital-first higher-education market, it is
creating a CITO role for its largest campus at Greater Noida, where the mandate is
to build a modern, secure and unified technology backbone from the ground up.
The Role
The CITO will be the single executive owner of technology strategy, infrastructure,
digital experience, academic technology, institutional data and cybersecurity across
the campus. This is fundamentally a builder's mandate: The successful candidate
will spend the first 12 months establishing foundational systems and governance
before layering on advanced digital and AI capability. The role carries full P&L
accountability for the IT budget and rationalize the multiple technology investments
into one coherent, scalable platform.
Key Responsibilities
• Technology strategy & roadmap: Author and own a 3–5 year campus IT
roadmap aligned to academic growth, NEP 2020 and UGC/AICTE digital-
infrastructure expectations; present progress to the Vice Chancellor's office and
Board.
• Core infrastructure & ERP/SIS: Lead selection and roll-out of a unified, cloud-
first Student Information System / ERP, network and campus infrastructure
standardisation, and data-centre/cloud consolidation
• Digital student & faculty experience: Build a phased, IILM-wide digital campus
experience (admissions, LMS, portals, mobile access) for Greater Noida with
responsibility for developing standards/platforms capable of subsequently being
adopted across the IILM Group —IILM's own version of a unified campus app
— sequenced to available budget and infrastructure maturity.
• Data, analytics & AI: Stand up a data warehouse and reporting layer; introduce
governed, practical AI use cases for admissions, student support, faculty
productivity and administration, starting with high-ROI pilots moved to
production.
• Cybersecurity, risk & compliance: Modernize the university-wide information-
security programme (identity management, data protection, incident response)
meeting India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 and
UGC/regulatory requirements.
• Budget, vendor & team leadership: Own the IT budget; negotiate and
rationalise vendor and cloud contracts; build, mentor and retain a lean, capable
IT team.
• Stakeholder & change leadership: Work closely with Deans Registrar, the
CFO and the existing Digital function to drive adoption across academic and
administrative stakeholders
Requirements — Must-Have
• 15+ years in progressively senior IT leadership roles, including at least 5 years
as CIO / CTO / Head of IT (or in a role of equivalent scope) with full budget and
team ownership.
• Demonstrated experience standing up or substantially modernising IT
infrastructure/ERP in— education, healthcare, BFSI, logistics or a comparable
service-sectors
• A clear, verifiable, flagship digital-transformation project led end-to-end, with
measurable business or institutional outcomes
• Direct experience owning or building an information-security and data-
governance programme
• Is a hands-on person, not a manager only, without a technical point of view
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / IT / Engineering; a Master's degree
(MBA, MTech or equivalent) is required
Good-to-Have
• Prior exposure to the higher-education, ed-tech, or NEP 2020 regulatory
environment in India.
• Hands-on (not merely pilot-stage) experience deploying applied/generative AI in
an enterprise setting.
• Experience building a technology function from a relatively lean starting base,
rather than only managing an already-mature enterprise stack.
• External recognition (industry awards, board/fellowship positions, published
thought leadership) evidencing standing in the CIO/CTO community.
What IILM Offers
• A green-field mandate to build (not just run) a university technology function from
the ground up.
• Direct visibility and reporting line to the Vice Chancellor and Board.
• A competitive, benchmarked compensation package plus performance-linked
bonus.
• The opportunity to shape the digital future of a growing university
