Chief Engineer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Chief Engineer to lead the engineering and maintenance operations at Stillwood Retreat, Coorg. The role is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of all resort infrastructure, utilities, and technical systems, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and guest comfort. Working closely with the resort leadership team, the Chief Engineer will oversee maintenance programs, energy management initiatives, and regulatory compliance to support operational excellence across the resort.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all engineering and maintenance operations across the resort.
- Ensure the efficient operation and upkeep of all utilities, plant equipment, buildings, villas, and resort infrastructure.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to maximize asset performance and minimize operational disruptions.
- Oversee the maintenance of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, civil, and other technical systems.
- Monitor energy consumption and implement energy efficiency initiatives to support sustainability objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, fire, environmental, and statutory regulations.
- Manage engineering budgets, maintenance contracts, and procurement of technical equipment and supplies.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities and infrastructure to ensure operational reliability and guest safety.
- Lead, train, and develop the engineering team, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with department heads and the resort leadership team to support operational excellence and guest satisfaction goals.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an engineering leadership role within a luxury resort or 5-star hospitality environment.
- Strong experience managing engineering operations in remote, eco-sensitive, or nature-integrated destinations.
- Comprehensive technical knowledge across civil, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC systems.
- Proven ability to implement preventive maintenance programs and manage resort infrastructure effectively.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, environmental compliance, and risk management practices.
- Experience in energy management, sustainability initiatives, and cost-control measures.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate high-performing engineering teams.
- Resourceful, technically proficient, and highly organized with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
