Job Description: Chief Design Engineer – Electrical
RSP India is seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Chief Design Engineer (Electrical) to join our team in Bengaluru. The ideal candidate will lead the detailed design and coordination of electrical works for large-scale IT & ITES facilities, including R&D labs, data centers, and high-rise buildings.
Role Overview
As the Chief Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical integrity of the electrical discipline. You will manage the entire design lifecycle—from initial planning and complex calculations to interdisciplinary coordination and client approvals—ensuring all projects adhere to Indian standards and global best practices.
Major Responsibilities
- Design Leadership: Plan, develop, and review engineering work within the electrical discipline. Lead the day-to-day technical activities of engineers, designers, and drafters.
- Technical Oversight: Review and approve critical engineering drawings, calculations, and field documents.
- Project Coordination: Synchronize engineering efforts with other project groups and technical disciplines to ensure seamless integration.
- Client Management: Act as a key technical point of contact for client representatives to obtain approvals on various work phases.
- Project Controls: Estimate man-hour requirements, manage schedules, and assign tasks to ensure timely delivery of all project milestones.
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Electrical Systems: Expertise in SLDs, protection & metering diagrams, relay settings, and protection coordination.
- Calculations & Sizing: Proficient in short circuit, load flow, and voltage drop calculations. Skilled in sizing EDGs, UPS, bus ducts, isolation transformers, and cables.
- Technical Software: Preferred experience with ETAP for electrical studies and Dialux for lighting design.
- BIM & 3D Modeling: Experience reviewing 3D models in Autodesk Revit and S3D using Navisworks. Participation in 30/60/90% model reviews is essential.
- Procurement Support: Expertise in equipment sizing, technical bid evaluations (TBE), and vendor print reviews for MV/LV switchgear, transformers, and MCCs.
- Integrated Systems: Knowledge of Building Power Management (BMS) interfaces with HVAC, fire, and security systems.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Experience: 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in electrical design for IT/ITES, Data Centers, or high-rise facilities.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of Indian standards, local codes, and construction practices.
- Soft Skills: Proven leadership abilities with excellent oral and written communication skills for technical reporting and client interaction.
