Chief Business Officer — Stock Broking
Monetic Stock Broking Private Limited - InvestKraft Group
The CBO owns the broking business end-to-end — from the first AP signed to a scaled, profitable book — across people, process, technology, compliance, risk, and revenue.
Roles & Responsibilities
1. Business & P&L
- Own the full P&L of the broking business — revenue, cost, margins, and unit economics — from licence to a scaled, running book
- Set the business strategy, annual targets, and growth roadmap, and own delivery against them
- Track and optimise the core economics: cost of acquisition, revenue per client and per AP, activation rates, and contribution margin
2. Direct Business
- Drive the direct-to-client business: retail and HNI acquisition, activation, and retention
- Build the direct sales and relationship management engine, and own its productivity and conversion metrics
- Own the cross-sell motion across the group — converting broking clients into mutual fund, insurance, and pre-IPO clients
3. AP Business
- Build, onboard, and scale the Authorized Person (AP)/partner distribution network nationally
- Use pre-IPO/unlisted securities as the wedge to win APs away from incumbent brokers
- Design AP payout structures, brokerage plans, and incentive schemes, and manage AP economics end-to-end
- Own AP engagement, enablement, and retention, and continuously sharpen positioning against discount and AP-channel brokers
4. Team Management
- Build, lead, and mentor the full business org — direct sales, AP/channel, and relationship management teams
- Set the org structure, hiring plan, KRAs, and performance culture
- Develop second-line leadership and build a team that scales with the business
5. Process
- Establish and own end-to-end business processes — client and AP onboarding, KYC, activation, servicing, and grievance handling
- Drive operational efficiency, turnaround times, and a consistent client and partner experience
- Build the reporting and MIS cadence that gives leadership real-time visibility into the business
6. Technology
- Partner with product/tech to own the trading and onboarding experience across the front-office and back-office stack
- Translate business and distribution needs into the tech and UI/UX roadmap
- Drive adoption of technology across clients, APs, and internal teams
7. Risk
- Own business and operational risk across the broking book — client exposure, margin, settlement, and credit risk in coordination with the risk function
- Put in place the risk controls, limits, and monitoring needed to scale safely
- Balance aggressive growth with prudent risk management and regulatory soundness
8. Compliance
- Ensure all business growth stays within SEBI and exchange norms under NSE/MSE membership
- Work hand-in-hand with the compliance team on AP empanelment, client onboarding, communications, and ongoing surveillance
- Build a compliance-first sales culture across direct and AP channels
Qualifications
- 15–20 years in Indian stock broking or capital markets, with a substantial track record in senior business or distribution leadership roles
- Proven track record of building an AP or sub-broker distribution network from scratch — not managing an inherited one
- Full P&L ownership experience, with a strong grasp of both direct and AP-channel economics
- Deep understanding of the Indian broking landscape, SEBI regulations, exchange membership, and broking operations end-to-end
- Working knowledge of broking technology, risk, and compliance frameworks
- Existing network across APs, IFAs, and channel partners strongly preferred
- Exposure to pre-IPO/unlisted, mutual funds, or wealth distribution is an advantage
- Entrepreneurial, hands-on builder who thrives in a zero-to-one, high-ownership environment
