1. Role Overview
Mercor is partnering with a leading artificial intelligence research organization to engage PhD holders, doctoral candidates, and outstanding Master's graduates in Chemistry and related fields for a high-impact AI training and evaluation initiative.
As a Chemistry Labeling Expert, you will play a vital role in enhancing the performance and accuracy of large language models (LLMs) by evaluating their understanding of complex chemical concepts, reactions, and processes.

3. Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate the scientific accuracy, reasoning quality, and technical rigor of AI-generated content across chemistry disciplines.
- Identify factual errors, reasoning gaps, and conceptual inconsistencies in model responses.
- Provide structured feedback through standardized rubrics and benchmarking tools.
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI research teams to enhance data quality and model understanding.
- Maintain consistency and objectivity in evaluating chemical explanations and problem-solving approaches.
4. Requirements
- PhD (or current PhD candidate) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a closely related discipline.
- Alternatively, Master's degree with strong research or teaching experience in chemistry.
- Excellent grasp of graduate-level chemistry concepts, equations, and analytical reasoning.
- Strong written communication and data interpretation skills.
- Ability to work independently and asynchronously in a remote research setting.
5. Role Details
- Type: Part-time contract (20 hours per week).
- Location: Fully remote (India-based).
- Schedule: Flexible and asynchronous.
- Start Date: Immediate openings with rolling application review.
6. Compensation & Terms
- Hourly Rate: $20$30 USD/hour (based on expertise and domain experience).
- Classification: Independent Contractor (via Mercor).
- Payments: Weekly via Stripe Connect for completed hours.
- Compensation is part of a broader performance-based rewards structure; extensions may be offered based on quality and output.
