Job Description

Chemistry Expert (AI Training)

About The Role

What if your years of chemistry training could directly shape how AI reasons through some of the most complex scientific problems in the world We're looking for Chemistry experts — Masters and PhDs — to design, solve, and evaluate advanced chemistry problems that push the boundaries of what AI can understand and explain.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for working scientists, researchers, and academics who want to contribute to cutting-edge AI development on their own schedule. No AI background needed — just deep chemistry expertise and a commitment to scientific rigor.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop complex, real-world chemistry problems spanning organic, inorganic, physical, and computational chemistry
  • Solve and review advanced problems to ensure scientific accuracy, depth, and clarity
  • Apply your domain expertise to challenge and improve AI reasoning in chemistry contexts
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to refine model outputs
  • Ensure every deliverable meets a high standard of scientific rigor and precision

Who You Are

  • Holds a Master's or PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field
  • Deep expertise in one or more areas: organic, inorganic, physical, or computational chemistry
  • Comfortable working with Python or computational chemistry tools such as Gaussian or VASP
  • Exceptionally strong written communicator — you can explain complex chemistry clearly and precisely
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and reliable when working independently
  • Fluent in English

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality review, or AI evaluation workflows
  • Familiarity with AI-generated scientific content or prompt engineering
  • Broad cross-disciplinary chemistry knowledge spanning multiple subfields
  • Experience publishing or peer-reviewing scientific work

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based work
  • Contribute to AI that will meaningfully improve how science is understood and communicated at scale
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
