Job Description

Qualification: Bachelor's in Mechanical engineering or Automotive engineering / M-Tech Mechanical engineering

Experience: 8 to 10 years

Roles & Responsibilities:

Skilled and motivated foundation Brake Design Engineer to support the design and development of foundation brake systems components for commercial vehicles. The role involves end-to-end design responsibility, supplier coordination, and ensuring compliance with performance, quality standards and homologation requirements.

Design & Development:

•Design and develop foundation brake systems (Drum/Disc brakes) for commercial vehicles.

•Perform concept design, layout creation, and detailed engineering.

CAD Modeling & Drafting:

•Proficiency to create 3D models and 2D drawings using CATIA (V5/V6).

•Ensure drawings are compliant with GD&T standards and internal quality guidelines.

•Manage revisions, BOMs, and design documentation.

Supplier Coordination:

•Act as technical interface with suppliers for brake and axle components.

•Review supplier designs, drawings, and validation reports.

•Support RFQ, supplier selection, and technical discussions.

Validation & Testing Support:

•Support design validation (DVP / DFMEA) activities.

•Participate in brake performance evaluations, durability testing, and issue resolution.

•Coordinate with testing teams (HIL/vehicle level where applicable).

Cross-functional Collaboration:

•Work with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and testing teams.

•Support problem-solving using root cause analysis tools (8D, Fishbone, etc.).

Compliance & Standards:

•Ensure designs meet regulatory requirements (e.g., UNECE R13 if applicable).

Strong communication skills – ability to clearly interact with:

•Suppliers

•Cross-functional global teams

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
