Job Description
Kapiva is one of India's fastest-growing D2C Ayurveda and wellness brands. We sell through our own website, marketplaces, quick commerce, modern trade and offline retail. As we scale, getting inventory controls right is central to how we report and how we make decisions. We're looking for a CA who enjoys working out the story behind the numbers and can bring tight control to a complex, multi-channel inventory setup.
What you'll do
- Own monthly inventory reconciliation: books (Zoho Books) vs WMS/OMS (Unicommerce) vs 3PL warehouse stock, at SKU, batch and location level
- Reconcile purchases, sales, returns and stock transfers, and investigate and resolve variances quickly
- Work with Operations team, Supply Chain and Procurement to validate purchase prices, landed cost and product costing
- Account for packing material consumption, set consumption norms, and track variances against actual usage
- Plan and run physical verifications: periodic counts by management, 3PL and third-party agencies. Reconcile the results and book adjustments with appropriate approvals
- Set up and monitor inventory controls covering GRN-to-bill matching, inter-warehouse transfers, damages/expiry/write-offs, and returns (RTO/customer returns)
- Support month-end close with inventory valuation, COGS computation, provisions for slow-moving/near-expiry/obsolete stock, and related schedules
- Support statutory and internal auditors on inventory, including count observations, valuation and cut-off
- Prepare analytical MIS on inventory ageing, shrinkage, consumption trends and gross margin drivers, with clear commentary
What we're looking for
- Qualified Chartered Accountant with 2–3 years of post-qualification experience
- Hands-on experience in inventory accounting, reconciliations and controls, ideally in a D2C, FMCG, e-commerce or consumer brand
- Working knowledge of Zoho Books (or a similar ERP)
- Experience working with 3rd-party warehouses (3PL) and multi-location inventory
- Advanced Excel skills (Power Query is a plus) and comfort handling large data sets
- Strong analytical and interpretation skills: you can explain why a variance happened, not just that it did
- Good understanding of Ind AS 2 (Inventories), cost flow and COGS accounting
- Clear communication and the ability to work closely with non-finance teams (Ops, Warehouse, Supply Chain)
Good to have
- Hands-on experience with Unicommerce or another OMS/WMS (not mandatory)
- Exposure to inventory audits, physical verification processes and their documentation
- Familiarity with GST implications of stock transfers, write-offs and returns
