Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Character Modeler based in Hyderabad. The Character Modeler will be responsible for creating high-quality character models, modeling using software such as Maya, Blender, Zbrush . This role is focused on creating hyper-realistic and stylized 3D character models that are anatomically accurate, animation-ready, and visually stunning. You will be responsible for the full character modeling pipeline, from initial sculpting to final topology and UV layout.
Key Responsibilities
- Sculpt, model, and refine high-quality 3D characters with exceptional anatomical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Build clean, efficient, and deformation-ready topology suitable for rigging and animation.
- Utilize scan data for realistic detailing and cleanup where required.
- Create precise UV layouts using UDIM workflows, ensuring minimal distortion and efficient texturing handoff.
- Ensure assets meet production pipeline requirements for scale, orientation, and naming conventions.
- Collaborate closely with rigging, grooming, and lookdev teams to ensure compatibility and performance.
- Implement feedback from leads and supervisors while maintaining artistic and technical integrity.
- Deliver assets on time while maintaining consistent quality.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in VFX, animation, or gaming industries.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating hyper-realistic or stylized character art with anatomical precision.
- Proficiency in Blender (preferred), with working knowledge of ZBrush, Maya, and Substance Painter.
- In-depth understanding of anatomy, form, edge flow, and deformation-friendly topology.
- Experience working with scan data cleanup and integration into clean base meshes.
- Skilled in UV unwrapping with UDIMs and preparation of models for downstream workflows.
- Knowledge of production asset delivery formats (FBX, OBJ) and version control best practices.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Bonus Skills (Preferred but Not Required)
- Familiarity with blendshape or facial modeling workflows.
- Understanding of how modeling affects grooming, cloth simulation, and other departments.
- Degree in Art, Design, Computer Graphics, or a related field is a plus.
