About the Client
Our client is a global consumer goods organization with a large portfolio of well-known brands in the pet care and nutrition space, operating across markets worldwide. Their Customer Data Platform (CDP) team owns the ingestion, identity unification, and activation infrastructure that powers marketing and personalization initiatives for the entire brand portfolio at global scale. The team culture is collaborative and mentorship-driven: engineers work closely with senior peers, documentation and runbooks are treated as part of the product, and data quality and privacy are taken seriously as first-class engineering concerns.
About the Role
You will join the client's CDP team as a Data Engineer, supporting the development and maintenance of data pipelines on Treasure Data / Treasure AI with guidance from senior engineers. Day to day, you will build and validate pipeline logic, troubleshoot issues at first level, and help enforce PII tagging and data quality controls across a platform serving dozens of brands in over one hundred markets. This is deliberately structured as a growth role: you are expected to arrive with solid engineering fundamentals in Python, SQL and Java, and to ramp up on the CDP domain, Azure, and the broader MarTech ecosystem on the job. It is an unusually strong opportunity to learn enterprise-scale customer data engineering inside an established, well-supported team rather than figuring it out alone.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and maintenance of data pipelines in Treasure Data under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Contribute to testing, data validation, and first-level troubleshooting.
- Help implement and verify PII tagging and other data quality controls.
- Participate in creating and maintaining technical documentation and runbooks.
- Contribute to the development of the team's standardized local development tooling.
- Actively learn the CDP domain, Azure, Java, and the broader MarTech ecosystem.
Must-Have Skills
- 2–3 years of experience in data engineering, backend development, or a similar field (internships and relevant projects count).
- Working knowledge of Python and SQL.
- Experience with Java (entry level, just work knowledge)
- Basic familiarity with Git / GitHub and CI/CD workflows.
- A proactive, learning-oriented attitude and comfort working within a team.
- Professional English proficiency (written and spoken).
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Prior experience or familiarity with Treasure Data / Treasure AI.
- Interest in or background with Customer Data Platforms (CDP) or MarTech.
- Academic or personal experience with Microsoft Azure.
- Exposure to data pipeline orchestration and ETL/ELT patterns.
- Familiarity with MarTech integrations such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, REST APIs, Power BI dashboarding, or Datadog observability.
Conditions
- Work setup: Fully remote.
- Time zone: UTC+1 (CET/CEST), aligned to Madrid, Spain. A minimum 6-hour daily overlap is required, starting at the beginning of the team's working day (approximately 9:00 AM CET).
- Contract length: 12 months, with the possibility of renewal subject to business needs and performance.
- Dedication: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Engagement type: Independent contractor engagement through Andela — not direct employment with Andela or with the client.
- Equipment:This position involves handling Personally Identifiable Information (PII), you will work on a client-provisioned laptop.
