Job Description: As a CAx System Architect & Business Consultant, you play a pivotal role in shaping the future of digital engineering. Your responsibilities include the design, continuous development, and strategic consulting for modern CAx applications, ensuring their seamless integration into a global PLM platform. You are a key driver of digital transformation in product development, leveraging state-of-the-art AI technologies to optimize engineering workflows and data management across the entire CAx/PLM landscape.

A particular focus of your role is the management and coordination of CAx solution operations delivered by external partners. You ensure smooth service delivery by monitoring performance and enforcing compliance with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

You collaborate closely with user representatives, providing expert guidance on the effective use of CAx systems within complex engineering processes. In doing so, you always consider seamless integration with the global PLM platform to guarantee consistency and efficiency across the product development lifecycle.

Expectations:

•In-depth experience in the architecture and integration of complex CAx and PLM systems, with a focus on global platform integration

•Proven application and implementation of modern AI methods (e.g., machine learning, generative AI, predictive analytics) for CAx and engineering process optimization and automation

•Experience in the operation and administration of CAx solutions and their integration with PLM platforms

•Ability to design innovative solutions and communicate their business value

•Consulting skills for international stakeholders and management

•Experience in managing external service providers and partners in IT operations

•Market knowledge of current trends and best practices in CAx, PLM, and AI

•Experience in leading transformation projects and change management

Key Responsibilities:

•Develop and implement architectural concepts for CAx/PLM landscapes (e.g., BricsCAD (AutoCAD), Creo Parametric 10/12, Engineering Base or Siemens

EDA a plus), with a strong focus on integration into a global PLM platform (Windchill) and the use of AI technologies

•Analyze and optimize engineering processes through targeted use of AI methods, ensuring seamless data flow between CAx applications and the PLM platform

•Manage and coordinate the operation of CAx solutions, including their integration with PLM systems, by external partners

•Monitor and ensure compliance with agreed SLAs by external service providers

•Strategic consulting for departments and management on the use and benefits of AI in engineering and PLM integration

•Work closely with user representatives to continuously improve CAx systems and their application in complex engineering processes, with a focus on PLM integration

•Advise and support users in the optimal use of CAx systems and their interaction with the PLM platform

•Manage and coordinate international projects for the introduction of new technologies and solutions, ensuring global PLM integration

•Ensure interoperability, scalability, and compliance of system landscapes, especially regarding CAx/PLM integration

•Select and evaluate new software solutions, especially in the area of AI and data analytics, with consideration for PLM compatibility

•Develop and maintain best practices and documentation for CAx/PLM integration

•Collaborate closely with software vendors, internal teams and engineering to continuously advance the integrated system landscape

•Conduct training sessions and create user guides to improve adoption and proficiency

Qualifications:

•Several years of experience as a System Architect, Business Consultant, or comparable role in the CAx environment, with proven expertise in global platform integration

•Solid knowledge of modern AI methods and their application in engineering and PLM

•Experience in the operation and administration of CAx solutions and their integration with PLM platforms

•Experience with leading CAx and PLM systems (e.g., Creo, Siemens EDA, Windchill, AutoCAD, Engineering Base)

•Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g., VBA, TCL/TK, PowerShell, Python).

•Proven track record of supporting global engineering IT projects

•Experience in managing external partners and monitoring SLAs

•Excellent analytical and conceptual skills

•Strong communication and consulting skills

•Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a comparable qualification

•Excellent English skills: additional languages are an advantage

Preferred Skills:

•Experience in global environments and managing cross-time-zone projects

•Certifications in relevant CAX or PLM/PDM systems

•Proven experience of modern AI methods and their application in engineering and PLM

•Continuous improvement mindset and passion for innovation in engineering IT

Experience:

•12 - 18 years of progressive experience in CAX system administration and PLM/PDM integration.

•Demonstrated hands-on expertise in managing, integrating, and supporting CAX and PLM/PDM environments.

•Proven track record of leading or supporting global engineering IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and integrations.

Education:

•Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
