Job Title: Category Manager

Location: Bangalore

About The Role

We are looking for a dynamic and analytical Category Manager to drive the growth and profitability of assigned product categories. The ideal candidate will be responsible for category strategy, product assortment, vendor management, pricing, inventory planning, and cross-functional collaboration to maximize business performance and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities And Ownership

  • Develop and execute category strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of assigned product categories, from sourcing and product selection to pricing and performance monitoring.
  • Identify market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities to drive category growth.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and negotiate commercial terms, pricing, and contracts.
  • Work closely with Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Product teams to ensure seamless category execution.
  • Analyze sales, inventory, profitability, and customer insights to optimize assortment and pricing strategies.
  • Forecast demand and collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure product availability while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Drive new product launches and category expansion initiatives.
  • Monitor category KPIs such as revenue, margins, inventory turnover, stock availability, and customer satisfaction
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization, process improvements, and business growth.
  • Prepare periodic MIS reports and present category performance insights to leadership.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Strong understanding of category management, merchandising, and sourcing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
  • Experience with ERP systems and business intelligence tools is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer-centric mindset with a focus on business growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Engineering, Supply Chain, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 4–8 years of experience in Category Management, Procurement, Buying, Merchandising, or Product Management.
  • Experience in furniture, consumer durables, retail, e-commerce, or manufacturing is preferred.
