Job Description
Role Overview
This is a core business role at Mokobara. As a Category Manager, you will act as the single-threaded owner for your category, responsible for the full product lifecycle and overall category health. You'll sit at the intersection of data, product, brand, and growth, working cross-functionally to ensure that the products our teams pour their heart and soul into reach their full potential-
commercially, creatively, and experientially.
We're looking for a high-ownership, insight-driven Category Manager to own one or more product
categories end-to-end; from research and strategy to launch execution and performance tracking.
If you're someone who loves owning outcomes, working deeply with data, and shaping products
beyond just launch day, this role will give you immense ownership and impact.
Key Responsibilities
1. Category Intelligence & Strategy
● Support category intelligence across product, category, channel and spend performance;
identify commercial opportunities, risks and trends.
● Translate data and research into clear product/category insights, trade-offs and
recommendations for the business.
● Identify market and customer white spaces and turn them into clear product, range and
category opportunities.
● Support category roadmaps, range plans, launch calendars and projections aligned with
business priorities.
2. New Product Launch & Cross-Functional Execution
● Act as the single owner for new product launches, from launch planning and readiness
through go-live and post-launch performance tracking.
● Drive launch workbacks across Product, Brand, Growth, Supply Chain, Retail and Ops;
proactively manage timelines, dependencies and risks.
● Own briefs for Brand / Influencer Marketing and Performance Marketing, translating
product truth into sharp creative requirements for creator content, statics, video and other
launch assets.
● Ensure launch readiness across inventory, pricing, P&L, product information, channel
requirements and marketing assets.
● Monitor coupon and promotional usage across D2C, marketplaces and Retail, flagging
deviations, misuse or unexpected commercial impact.
● Own pricing and promotional checks at the beginning and end of key sales events,
ensuring intended prices, offers and product-level pricing are correctly executed across
channels.
3. Performance, Insights & Governance
● Build and interpret dashboards, reports and deep-dive analyses to explain product and
omni channel category performance and identify risks and opportunities.
● Analyse trade and spend performance at category, sub-category level; identify where
investment should increase, hold or reduce.
● Build structured insight loops using returns, reviews, warranty and CX cues to guide
product and commercial decisions.
What Makes You a Great Fit
● Around 3 years of experience in ecommerce category management, brand management,
marketing, growth, strategy or a closely related role.
● Deeply analytical and commercially minded; strong at working with numbers,
dashboards and data to uncover product, category, channel and spend insights.
● Strong trade instinct: able to distinguish what is interesting from what will materially
move revenue, margin, productivity or product performance.
● Comfortable turning analysis into clear hypotheses, recommendations and decisions
rather than simply reporting numbers.
● Strong project ownership and execution skills, with the ability to independently drive
multiple launches and coordinate stakeholders across functions.
● Strong written communication and creative judgement; able to write sharp, product-led
briefs for influencer, brand and performance marketing teams.
● High ownership, organised, detail-oriented and dependable, with a pleasing personality
and the ability to build trust across teams.
● Curious and willing to learn; comfortable working in ambiguity and helping build a
Category function that is still evolving.
● Genuine interest in product, consumer behaviour, design, brand and how products win in
the market.
● Bonus: Familiarity with digital marketing, growth metrics, media efficiency or
performance-led decision-making.
