Role Description
The Category Manager – Mattresses is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru, responsible for end-to-end management of the mattress category. The role involves defining category strategy, selecting and managing the product assortment, tracking performance, and optimizing pricing, promotions, and margins. The Category Manager will work closely with procurement to source products, negotiate contracts, and maintain strong supplier relationships, while collaborating with sales and merchandising teams to drive revenue and inventory turns. Daily activities include analyzing sales and market data, identifying trends and customer needs, executing category plans, and coordinating with store teams and marketing to ensure effective product placement and campaigns. The role also requires regular reporting, forecasting, and continuous improvement of the category's performance.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and execute category strategy to achieve sales, margin and profitability targets.
· Manage product assortment, pricing, promotions and lifecycle management.
· Identify market trends, customer insights and competitor activities to drive category growth.
· Collaborate with vendors and suppliers on sourcing, product development and commercial negotiations.
· Monitor inventory, stock availability and replenishment to optimize working capital.
· Partner with Retail, Marketing, Supply Chain and eCommerce teams to maximize category performance.
· Track category KPIs and recommend actions to improve sales, margins, and inventory turns.

Qualification
Graduate in any discipline; MBA/PGDM in Marketing, Retail, or Business Management preferred.
Experience
8–12 years of experience in Category Management, Buying, Merchandising or Product Management — preferably in Mattresses, Furniture, Home Furnishing, Consumer Durables or Retail. Experience in vendor management, assortment planning and P&L ownership preferred.
