Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to support Indian students and graduates of the University of Southampton as they prepare for their careers in India and beyond.

As Careers Consultant (India), you will deliver high-impact careers guidance, employability programmes and job-search support to students before departure, during study, and after graduation. Working closely with colleagues in the UK and India, you will help students translate their international education into successful career outcomes in the Indian labour market.

This role suits someone passionate about student development, employability and international education, with strong insight into India's graduate recruitment landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored careers guidance, job coaching and employability support to Indian students and recent graduates (online and in person)
  • Lead delivery of the Career Ready+ pre-departure and return-to-India employability programmes
  • Design and deliver workshops, webinars and events focused on job search, CVs, interviews and career planning in India
  • Work closely with alumni networks to connect students with industry insights, mentoring and opportunities
  • Collaborate with the Employer Engagement Manager (India) to support internships, graduate roles and employer events
  • Support recruitment and engagement activities in India, including fairs, briefings and presentations (as required)
  • Produce targeted communications to engage offer holders and graduates at key stages
  • Track engagement, outcomes and impact, ensuring accurate reporting
  • Act as an in-country careers expert, providing market insight to UK-based colleagues

Person Specification

Essential

  • Fluent Hindi and strong professional English
  • Experience in careers guidance, graduate recruitment, employability or student support
  • Strong understanding of the India graduate labour market
  • Confident communicator, comfortable delivering presentations and 1-to-1 guidance
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across international teams

Desirable

  • Careers qualification or willingness to work towards one
  • Experience working with international students or UK universities
  • Project or programme delivery experience
