Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Instruction

  • Deliver lectures, seminars, and case-based sessions on topics such as:
  • Cardiovascular anatomy and physiology
  • Pathophysiology of heart diseases (e.g., coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias)
  • Cardiovascular pharmacotherapy (e.g., antihypertensives, antiplatelets, anticoagulants, statins)
  • Diagnostic tools (ECG interpretation, echocardiography, biomarkers)
  • Supervise clinical case discussions, ward rounds (if applicable), and student projects.
  • Prepare and evaluate course materials, assessments, and examination papers.
  • Mentor students in academic and career development.

Research

  • Conduct and publish research in areas such as:
  • Cardiovascular pharmacology and therapeutics
  • Epidemiology of heart diseases
  • Clinical trials of cardiovascular drugs or interventions
  • Guide undergraduate/postgraduate thesis and promote student research.
  • Apply for research grants and attend professional conferences.

Clinical/Pharma Collaboration (Optional/Role-Dependent)

  • Collaborate with cardiology departments in teaching hospitals for practical training.
  • Liaise with pharmaceutical companies on cardiovascular drug development and clinical trials.
  • Participate in CME (Continuing Medical Education) activities.

Administrative Duties

  • Participate in departmental activities, curriculum design, and quality assurance.
  • Serve on institutional committees (academic, ethics, research, etc.).
  • Assist in organizing academic events such as symposia, workshops, and guest lectures.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • MBBS with MD/DNB in Cardiology or Internal Medicine
  • OR M.Pharm/Pharm.D with specialization in Cardiovascular Pharmacology (for pharmacy colleges)

Desirable:

  • PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences or related fields
  • Experience in teaching and clinical supervision
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals

Skills & Competencies

  • Deep knowledge of cardiovascular medicine and pharmacotherapy
  • Strong teaching, communication, and mentoring skills
  • Ability to engage in interdisciplinary research
  • Competence with diagnostic software, simulation tools, and digital learning platforms
  • Ethical and professional conduct in clinical/academic settings
