About The Opportunity

We are hiring within the tertiary care cardiac surgery sector serving adult and paediatric cardiovascular services in Mangalore, Karnataka. The role sits in a high-acuity, on-site clinical environment managing complex perioperative care for elective and emergency cardiac surgical patients.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive perioperative cardiac anaesthesia care for adult and paediatric patients undergoing valve surgery, CABG, aortic surgery, congenital cardiac procedures and ECMO-supported cases.
  • Perform intraoperative monitoring and decision-making including Transesophageal Echocardiography guidance, invasive haemodynamic optimization and management during cardiopulmonary bypass.
  • Lead anaesthetic induction, airway and ventilator management, haemostasis strategies and fast-track extubation protocols in collaboration with surgical and ICU teams.
  • Manage postoperative handover to cardiac ICU: ventilator weaning, analgesia/sedation plans, haemodynamic support and early complication recognition.
  • Participate in emergency resuscitation for perioperative cardiac events and provide on-call anaesthesia cover as scheduled for on-site services.
  • Develop and refine departmental clinical protocols, contribute to morbidity & mortality reviews and mentor junior anaesthesia staff and trainees.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have (Skills)

  • Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)
  • Cardiopulmonary bypass management
  • Invasive hemodynamic monitoring
  • Advanced Cardiac LifeSupport
  • Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS)
  • Postoperative cardiac ICU/ventilator-management

Must-Have (Qualifications & Experience)

  • MBBS with MD/DNB in Anaesthesiology (or equivalent postgraduate qualification).
  • Proven clinical experience in cardiac anaesthesia with documented exposure to CPB and TEE-guided cases.
  • Valid medical registration and eligibility to practice in India.

Preferred

  • Formal TEE certification or fellowship in cardiac anaesthesia.
  • Experience with ECMO perioperative management or advanced mechanical circulatory support.
  • Prior experience at a high-volume tertiary cardiac centre or teaching hospital.
