Position Overview
The Carbon Market Analyst will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting developments in global carbon markets, including carbon credits, emissions trading systems (ETS), and voluntary carbon offset markets. This role requires strong analytical skills, market knowledge, and the ability to translate data into actionable insights that support trading strategies, compliance, and sustainability objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Research and analyze global and regional carbon markets, including regulatory frameworks, policy changes, and market mechanisms.
Track and evaluate pricing trends, supply-demand dynamics, and the performance of carbon credits and allowances.
Provide regular market intelligence reports and forecasts to internal stakeholders, supporting trading and investment decisions.
Assess the financial and environmental impacts of carbon pricing, offsets, and emissions reduction strategies.
Collaborate with sustainability, risk management, and compliance teams to ensure alignment with corporate climate and net-zero goals.
Support the identification and evaluation of opportunities in carbon trading, offset projects, and green finance instruments.
Maintain relationships with market participants, regulatory bodies, and industry organizations.
Contribute to the development of carbon risk management tools and scenario analyses.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field (Master's preferred).
Strong understanding of carbon markets, emissions trading schemes (EU ETS, CORSIA, regional ETS), and voluntary carbon markets.
Proven experience in market analysis, commodities trading, or financial research (experience in carbon/energy markets preferred).
Excellent quantitative, analytical, and modeling skills.
Strong communication and report-writing skills with the ability to present complex topics clearly.
Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Python, R, or similar).
