Job Description

Job Title: Capital Planning Automation Specialist / Analyst

Location: Bangalore/Mumbai/Gurgaon

Role Overview

The Capital Planning Automation Specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and enhancing automation solutions within the capital planning and financial forecasting processes. The role focuses on improving efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of capital expenditure (CAPEX) planning through digital tools, analytics, and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Capital Planning & Financial Analysis

  • Support end-to-end capital planning cycles including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Analyze CAPEX data to identify trends, risks, and optimization opportunities
  • Partner with Finance, Strategy, and Business teams to align capital allocation with business priorities

2. Automation & Process Improvement

  • Design and implement automation solutions for capital planning workflows
  • Replace manual processes using tools such as:
  • Excel automation (VBA, Power Query)
  • Power BI / Tableau
  • RPA tools (UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Power Automate)
  • Standardize data collection, reporting, and validation processes
  • Build scalable frameworks to improve planning cycle timelines

3. Data Management & Reporting

  • Develop interactive dashboards and reports for leadership using BI tools
  • Maintain and enhance capital planning databases and models
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and governance across systems
  • Integrate data from ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)

4. Systems & Tools Development

  • Collaborate with IT and digital teams to implement planning tools and platforms
  • Support system enhancements and modernization initiatives
  • Work with APIs and integrations to streamline data flows

5. Stakeholder Management

  • Engage with cross-functional teams (Finance, Operations, Strategy, IT)
  • Translate business requirements into technical automation solutions
  • Provide training and documentation for end users

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or related field
  • MBA or relevant certification (CFA, CPA, etc.) is a plus

Experience

  • 3–7 years of experience in:
  • Financial planning & analysis (FP&A), OR
  • Capital planning, OR
  • Finance transformation / automation roles

Technical Skills

  • Strong Excel skills (advanced formulas, VBA preferred)
  • Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau)
  • Familiarity with automation tools (Power Automate, UiPath, Alteryx)
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, Anaplan)
  • Basic programming knowledge (Python, SQL) is a strong advantage

Analytical Skills

  • Strong financial modeling and data analysis capability
  • Ability to interpret large datasets and generate insights

Soft Skills

  • Problem-solving mindset with focus on efficiency improvements
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in digital finance transformation initiatives
  • Exposure to cloud-based planning tools (Anaplan, Adaptive Insights)
  • Knowledge of data visualization and storytelling
