Job Description: Senior Process Engineer (Presales & Project Execution – Systems & Single Use)

Function: Systems & Single Use (S&SU) – Process Engineering

Reporting To: Process Engineering Manager

Location: Bangalore

1. Role Purpose

The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for providing technical presales support, preparing quotation‑level process designs, developing P&IDs, and ensuring complete process ownership throughout the project lifecycle, including support during FAT and IQ/OQ. The role requires strong cross‑functional collaboration to deliver high‑quality engineered systems aligned with customer URS.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Presales / Quotation Responsibilities

• Review URS, RFQs, datasheets, and define process requirements.
• Conduct feasibility checks and propose technical solutions.
• Prepare quotation‑level process design deliverables:
• Preliminary P&ID
• Process flow concept
• Required process components
• Sizing calculations
• Compile technical details required for quotations from CFT:
• Conceptual Layout
• Automation Architecture
• Service Scope
• Prepare project costing during presales.
• Participate in meetings with Sales and customers to finalize specifications.

B. Engineering Responsibilities (Project Execution)

1.       Prepare and review the complete Project Technical Package including:

1. P&ID
2. System Specifications
3. Conceptual Layout
4. Deviation List aligned to the URS.

2.       Compile all technical inputs from CFT required for quotation preparation.

3.       Prepare detailed project costing during presales.

4.       Participate in discussions with Sales Development and customers to freeze project specifications.

5.       Prepare and present the KOM Presentation and conduct the KOM post‑PO.

6.       Perform technical evaluation of process requirements and design the P&ID for customer systems.

7.       Engage with customers to clarify process expectations.

8.       Support the Qualification team during FAT by addressing process‑related customer questions.

C. FAT / Commissioning / Qualification Support

• Provide technical support during internal assembly and testing.
• Review FAT procedure and ensure process requirements are validated.
• Support IQ/OQ by providing P&ID traceability and process insights.

3. Authorities of Senior Process Engineer

·     Review & submit P&ID, System Specifications, and Deviation List to Sales.

·     Review & submit costing and generic project plan to Sales.

·     Release Project KOM MoM along with key documents.

·     Review, approve, and upload P&ID for execution.

·     Act as the authorized signatory for P&ID preparation.

·     Provide technical approval for P&ID documents.

4. Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong expertise in bioprocess operations (TFF, mixing, filtration, buffer prep, etc.).
• Ability to create, review, and validate P&IDs and process documentation.
• Knowledge of instruments, pumps, valves, sensors, and line sizing.
• Understanding of automation basics (I/O, interlocks, control logic inputs).
• Familiarity with GMP, GAMP5, 21 CFR Part 11, CE compliance.
• Strong customer communication and CFT coordination skills.
• Detail‑oriented with strong documentation and analytical capability.

5. Qualifications

• B.Tech/M.Tech in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, or equivalent.
• 3–7 years of experience in bioprocess equipment or system engineering.
