Job Description

Campus Operations Specialist

Full-time | Hybrid (40% Remote / 60% Travel) | 2–5 Years Experience

ABOUT NAVGURUKUL

NavGurukul is a not-for-profit founded in 2016 on a mission to create access to aspirational careers for students from marginalized communities. We run fully-funded residential programmes in programming, finance, business, education, and design; and help students land real jobs.

Currently, 1,200+ students are learning across 8 campuses in India. Six of our eight campuses are women-only, a conscious choice because inclusion is core to who we are. Our students arrive having beaten significant odds. They manage their own campuses through elected student bodies, learn at their own pace, and support each other as peers. 1,500+ alumni are now working in tech, collectively earning ₹50 crore+ annually.

ABOUT THE ROLE

NavGurukul's 8 residential campuses don't just teach; they house, feed, and equip students with everything they need to learn and grow. Behind that experience is a complex layer of operations; from laptops and WiFi to procurement and campus maintenance; that must work reliably for students to thrive.

We are looking for a Campus Operations Manager who can own this layer across all campuses; remotely and on-the-ground. You will be the go-to person for campus operations, IT infrastructure, device management, and operational process standardisation; ensuring every campus runs smoothly whether you're there or not.

This is a hybrid role: 40% remote (systems building, monitoring, vendor management) and 60% travel (periodic campus visits for audits, setups, and team training).

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Campus Operations Ownership

  • Own day-to-day operational health across all 8 campuses; ensuring campus teams have what they need to keep things running
  • Build and maintain a master-list of operational standards, SOPs, and working checklists that campus teams can follow independently
  • Coordinate with campus leads to track open issues, pending procurements, and facility upgrades
  • Periodically visit campuses to audit operational standards, identify gaps, and coach campus staff
  • Manage procurement workflows for campus equipment, consumables, and infrastructure needs

Systems, Tracking & Reporting

  • Build and maintain a live dashboard tracking assets, outstanding issues, and operational health across all campuses
  • Document and escalate recurring problems; design preventative measures that reduce downtime
  • Share regular operations updates with the central team; flag risks early
  • Build NavGurukul's institutional knowledge on operations; what works, costs, vendors, lessons

Campus Team Capacity Building

  • Train campus staff to handle routine IT and operational tasks independently
  • Create simple troubleshooting guides, onboarding documents, and operations playbooks for each campus role
  • Run periodic operations reviews with campus leads to surface issues and improve systems
  • Build a culture of operational responsibility and proactive maintenance on campus

Vendor & Supplier Management

  • Identify and onboard reliable local IT and operations vendors in proximity to each campus
  • Negotiate and manage AMCs, leases, and service contracts for IT and operations
  • Standardise vendor SLAs and ensure issues are resolved within expected timeframes
  • Evaluate vendor performance regularly and maintain backup options per location

IT Infrastructure & Device Management

  • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of all laptops, tablets, peripherals, and IT assets across all 8 campuses
  • Oversee laptop lifecycle management: procurement, onboarding, repairs, reallocation, and retirement
  • Ensure all student and staff devices are operational, configured, and secure
  • Coordinate WiFi and network uptime with ISPs and local vendors; escalate and resolve connectivity issues fast
  • Set up and maintain campus IT environments including software licences, Google Workspace accounts, and security policies
  • Be the first point of escalation for IT support issues from campus teams and students

IS THIS ROLE FOR YOU

This is for you if...

  • You can spot an IT problem, remotely walk a campus staff through a fix, and document it as an SOP before end of day
  • Managing ops across 8 locations sounds like a solvable systems problem, not an overwhelming one
  • You get energy from the mix of deep remote work and periodic on-ground visits
  • You can design systems that run without you being on site every day
  • You are equally comfortable with a spreadsheet and a screwdriver

This is not for you if...

  • You need to be physically present to manage things; remote ownership makes you uncomfortable
  • You prefer one specialisation; this role requires breadth across IT, ops, and people
  • You need a fully-equipped IT team behind you; this role is for someone who builds that from scratch
  • Operational detail feels draining, not energising

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 2–5 years of experience in operations, IT support, facilities management, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience managing IT assets, networks, or device inventory; ideally across multiple sites
  • Ability to write clear SOPs, process docs, and operations playbooks that non-tech staff can follow
  • Comfortable working remotely with campus teams and travelling periodically (40% of time)
  • Experience working with vendors and managing AMCs/service contracts
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, basic networking, and device setup is strongly preferred
  • Strong organisational skills; you don't drop balls; things get closed
  • Working proficiency in Hindi is helpful; regional language is a bonus

COMPENSATION & CULTURE

At NavGurukul, we work for impact first. Everyone who joins us chooses to be part of a mission that creates real opportunities for young people who otherwise may not have access to them.

Since we are a non-profit organization, our salaries are more modest compared to corporate roles. For some candidates, this may mean a 50–60% change from their current compensation.

If our mission connects with you and you feel comfortable with this range, we would truly value the opportunity to work together.

We are an inclusive organisation and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences.
