Job Description

Job Opportunity: Crisis Counsellor / Counselling Psychologist

Location: Powai, Mumbai (On-site)

Positions:

• Part-time: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM

• Full-time: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Working Days: Weekdays + weekends (roster-based)

Both for Full- time & Part-time

Role Overview:

We are seeking trained Crisis Counsellors to provide in-person psychological support to students and young adults experiencing emotional distress or crisis. The role combines one-to-one crisis intervention and risk assessment with preventive campus initiatives such as workshops, peer-support sessions, and wellbeing programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide in-person crisis counselling and psychological support during assigned shifts, including for self-harm concerns and suicidal ideation.

• Conduct initial risk assessments and follow established safety, referral, and escalation protocols.

• Recognise when escalation is required and coordinate with psychologists, psychiatrists, emergency services, and institutional stakeholders.

• Offer trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and affirming support to diverse students, including neurodivergent and queer individuals.

• Maintain confidential, professional documentation of counselling interactions.

• Deliver psychoeducational workshops and facilitate peer-support/group sessions that are safe, inclusive, and constructive.

• Contribute to awareness, prevention, and early-intervention initiatives on campus.

• Participate in case discussions, supervision, and crisis-response planning with the wider wellbeing team.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Master's degree in Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology from a recognised institution.

• 2–4 years of counselling or mental health experience.

• Demonstrated experience handling crisis and high-risk cases, including self-harm and suicidal ideation.

• Strong knowledge of crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, confidentiality, and referral protocols.

• Experience with trauma-informed care and neurodiversity-affirming approaches.

• Comfortable conducting workshops and facilitating group/peer-support sessions.

• Strong communication and active listening skills, with the ability to stay composed and make sound decisions in emotionally intense situations.

Preferred Profile:

• Male psychologists preferred for this role.

• Prior experience working with school/university students or young adults.

• Formal training in suicide prevention, suicide-risk assessment, crisis intervention, or Psychological First Aid.

• Experience in institutional settings such as universities, schools, hospitals, helplines, counselling centres, or crisis-response programmes.
