About The Role
The role involves working within Qualcomm's dynamic engineering team focused on developing and optimizing camera sensor technologies and image processing algorithms for next-generation mobile devices. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and debugging camera driver software, contributing to the development of image quality enhancement techniques, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance multimedia solutions. This position requires a deep understanding of camera hardware, embedded systems, and real-time processing, with an emphasis on delivering innovative solutions that meet stringent performance and power efficiency standards. The candidate will also engage in customer site visits and collaborate on co-developing future smartphone technologies, ensuring seamless integration and functionality of camera systems across various platforms.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, complemented by relevant work experience. A minimum of 2+ years of software engineering experience is required, with proficiency in programming languages such as C and C++. Strong debugging skills, solid understanding of operating system fundamentals, and experience with multimedia technologies, particularly camera/video frameworks, are essential. Knowledge of Android camera and image processing, System-on-Chip (SoC) architecture, and camera pipeline design will be advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, logical reasoning, and a proactive attitude towards problem-solving. Experience with unit testing frameworks like CPPTest or GoogleTest is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize camera driver software to support high-quality image capture and processing functionalities.
- Implement and troubleshoot real-time embedded system components, ensuring stability and performance under various operational conditions.
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate camera sensors and ensure compatibility with system architecture.
- Analyze and resolve complex issues related to memory corruption, deadlocks, race conditions, and other real-time system challenges.
- Participate in the development and tuning of 3A algorithms (Auto Exposure, Auto Focus, Auto White Balance) to enhance image quality.
- Contribute to the development of image processing pipelines, ensuring optimal performance and power efficiency.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of camera firmware and software components, utilizing unit testing frameworks and performance analysis tools.
- Engage with customers and internal teams to understand requirements and provide technical support during product development cycles.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in multimedia technology, embedded systems, and camera hardware to continuously improve product offerings.
