Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Calypso CATT Engineer / QA Engineer with strong expertise in test automation, software quality engineering, troubleshooting, and end-to-end testing of complex, multi-tiered applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing and executing test strategies, developing automated test solutions, debugging complex application issues, and working across distributed application environments. Experience with Calypso, CATT, financial markets/trading applications, and enterprise banking systems will be highly valuable.

The role involves close collaboration with developers, business analysts, architects, QA teams, and other engineering stakeholders to ensure high-quality, reliable, and production-ready applications.

Key Responsibilities

1. Calypso CATT Testing

  • Design, develop, and execute test scenarios using Calypso CATT.
  • Create and maintain automated test cases for Calypso-based applications and workflows.
  • Validate end-to-end business processes across complex financial systems.
  • Develop reusable test components and automation utilities.
  • Execute functional, regression, integration, system, and end-to-end testing.
  • Analyze test results and identify application defects, data issues, configuration problems, and integration failures.
  • Work closely with Calypso development and functional teams to validate fixes and enhancements.
  • Support testing across different application releases and environments.
  • Ensure test coverage aligns with business and technical requirements.

2. Test Automation & QA Engineering

  • Design and implement scalable test automation frameworks.
  • Develop automated tests for complex multi-tiered applications.
  • Identify suitable candidates for automation and continuously improve automation coverage.
  • Create reusable automation components to reduce manual testing effort.
  • Maintain existing automation scripts and enhance them based on application changes.
  • Integrate automated testing into the overall software delivery lifecycle.
  • Execute regression suites and analyze failures.
  • Ensure automation solutions are reliable, maintainable, and scalable.

3. Test Planning & Execution

  • Understand functional and technical requirements and translate them into comprehensive test scenarios.
  • Prepare test plans, test cases, test data, and execution strategies.
  • Perform:
  • Functional testing
  • Integration testing
  • Regression testing
  • System testing
  • End-to-end testing
  • API testing
  • Automation testing
  • Performance-related validation where required
  • Track testing progress and provide status updates to stakeholders.
  • Identify testing risks, dependencies, and potential quality gaps.
  • Ensure defects are documented with sufficient technical information for efficient resolution.

4. End-to-End Application Testing

  • Work with complex, multi-tiered enterprise applications.
  • Validate interactions between front-end, backend, databases, APIs, messaging systems, and external applications.
  • Understand application architecture and data flows to develop effective test strategies.
  • Validate business workflows across multiple application components.
  • Perform integration testing across distributed systems.
  • Analyze failures across different application layers and identify the source of issues.

5. Troubleshooting & Debugging

  • Perform detailed troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of test failures.
  • Analyze application logs, error messages, stack traces, and system behavior.
  • Debug issues across application, infrastructure, database, and integration layers.
  • Use standard UNIX/Linux utilities to investigate application and test failures.
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to resolve complex defects.
  • Reproduce production and environment-specific issues in test environments.
  • Provide clear technical analysis and recommendations for defect resolution.

6. Programming & Automation Development

  • Develop automation utilities and testing frameworks using programming languages such as:
  • Java
  • Python
  • JavaScript
  • Ruby
  • Golang
  • C
  • C++
  • Write clean, reusable, and maintainable code.
  • Develop scripts for test execution, validation, data preparation, and environment checks.
  • Use programming skills to improve automation efficiency and reduce manual testing activities.
  • Understand object-oriented programming and common software engineering principles.

7. Front-End Testing

  • Work with applications developed using modern front-end technologies.
  • Have exposure to at least one front-end framework such as:
  • Angular
  • React
  • Vue.js
  • Validate UI workflows and integration between front-end and backend services.
  • Support automated UI testing where required.
  • Troubleshoot browser/application-level issues.

8. Unix/Linux & Windows Environment

  • Work comfortably across Unix/Linux and Windows environments.
  • Use standard UNIX/Linux utilities for:
  • Log analysis
  • File processing
  • Application troubleshooting
  • Test execution
  • Process monitoring
  • Environment validation
  • Execute shell commands and scripts to support testing and debugging.
  • Understand basic operating-system concepts relevant to application testing.
  • Troubleshoot environment-specific issues across Windows and Linux systems.

9. Defect Management & Root Cause Analysis

  • Identify, document, and track defects through the complete defect lifecycle.
  • Provide detailed defect descriptions, logs, test evidence, and reproduction steps.
  • Perform root-cause analysis for recurring or complex defects.
  • Collaborate with developers to validate defect fixes.
  • Conduct regression testing after fixes.
  • Identify opportunities to prevent recurring defects through automation or process improvements.

10. Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with QA engineers, developers, architects, business analysts, and product teams.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior QA and automation engineers.
  • Support estimation, planning, task allocation, and execution of testing activities.
  • Participate in code reviews and automation framework reviews.
  • Help establish QA engineering best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership for complex testing initiatives.
  • Manage priorities and deliver testing activities within project timelines.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 6+ years of overall experience in QA Engineering, Software Testing, Test Automation, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in QA engineering or related technical roles.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and executing software tests.
  • Experience with testing methodologies and automation technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analytical skills.
  • Hands-on experience testing complex, multi-tiered enterprise applications.
  • Strong programming knowledge in at least one language such as:
  • Java
  • Python
  • JavaScript
  • Ruby
  • Golang
  • C
  • C++
  • Experience with at least one front-end framework:
  • Angular
  • React
  • Vue.js
  • Strong experience working with Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Comfortable using standard UNIX utilities for testing and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of software development and testing lifecycles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Calypso / Financial Domain Skills

Experience with Calypso is highly preferred.

Candidates with experience in financial markets, banking, or capital markets applications will be preferred, particularly exposure to:
