Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Classical Dance Teacher role based at the SGIS campus in Kolhapur. The Classical Dance Teacher will plan, prepare, and deliver engaging classical dance lessons (such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak, or other recognized classical forms) aligned with the school's curriculum and age-appropriate learning goals. Responsibilities include demonstrating techniques, choreographing solo and group performances, and preparing students for school events, competitions, and cultural programs. The teacher will design lesson plans, assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain records of student performance and participation. The role also involves collaborating with other arts and academic faculty, supporting interdisciplinary projects, organizing rehearsals, ensuring student safety during practice, and promoting discipline, creativity, and respect for India's cultural heritage.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation and practical expertise in classical Dance, with the ability to demonstrate and teach technique, expression, and performance skills.
- Proven experience in Dance Instruction and Dance Education, including lesson planning, curriculum integration, and assessment of student learning.
- Effective Teaching skills, including classroom management, differentiation for diverse learners, and the ability to motivate and mentor students.
- Basic understanding of Music (rhythm, tala, laya, and classical compositions) to support choreography and performance training.
- Formal training or certification in a recognized classical dance form from an accredited institution; a degree/diploma in Performing Arts or related field is preferred.
- Experience working with school-age learners in a structured educational setting, ideally in an international or CBSE/IB/Cambridge school environment.
- Strong communication skills in English; additional fluency in regional languages is an advantage.
