EDA/CAD Technical Manager

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically strong EDA/CAD Manager to lead CAD-Design Team and scale our CAD/Methodology function supporting complex SoC development programs. The ideal candidate possesses deep end-to-end SoC design execution and flow knowledge, hands-on execution capability, strong technical leadership, and proven experience in managing CAD infrastructure, EDA tools, licenses, and automation frameworks.
This role requires close collaboration with CAD-Infra, RTL, DV, PD, DFT, AMS, packaging, and IP integration teams to ensure robust, efficient, and scalable design methodologies across multiple product lines.
Key Responsibilities
1. End-to-End SoC Execution Flow Ownership
- Drive and maintain standardized SoC implementation flowsfrom RTL to GDSIIincluding synthesis, P&R, STA, physical verification, DFT, simulation, emulation, and signoff flows in collaboration with R&D teams involved.
- Evaluate, deploy, and continuously enhance flow methodologies to ensure best-in-class PPA/QoR. Provide hands-on technical guidance during tool/flow issues across SoC design lifecycle.
2. Technical Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor a small team of CAD/Flow/automation engineers through day-to-day technical engagements, design challenges, and prioritization.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for cross-functional teams to resolve CAD-tool/flow related issues. Conduct technical 1:1s, performance evaluations, and skills development plans.
3. EDA Tool Selection & License Optimization
- Continuously evaluate the latest EDA technologies and tools for SoC design improvement. Work with vendors (Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens, Ansys, etc.) for tool trials, benchmarking, evaluation, and negotiation support.
- Perform periodic license usage analytics and optimize counts to reduce cost while maximizing engineering productivity. Collaborate with CAD-Infra team to streamline EDA tool-license related automation infrastructure.
- Collaborate with multiple EDA vendors to understand and adopt upcoming tool capabilities across segments
4. CAD Utilities & Automation Development Lifecycle Management
- Collaboratively define architecture, and development scope for internal CAD utilities and automation frameworks against business driven usecases. Manage development, testing, deployment, and documentation of automation tools
- Drive AI adoption in EDA-CAD eco-system across a range of in-house and vendor driven engagement.
5. Foundation IP & Complex IP Integration Enablement
- Provide technical guidance for enablement, QA, and deployment of foundation IPs (StdCells, IOs, SRAMs) in SoC flows.
- Ensure PDK, techfiles, Liberty, LEF/DEF, and modeling quality for process readiness. Collaborate with IP vendors and internal IP teams for methodology alignment and data preparation.
Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering or related field.
- 1215 years of strong CAD/EDA experience in semiconductor SoC product companies.
- Deep understanding of RTL-to-GDSII flows, digital/analog design environments, and signoff methodologies.
- Proficiency in EDA tools across Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens/Mentor, Ansys ecosystems.
- Strong scripting experience (Perl, Python, Tcl, Shell) and automation framework design.
- Experience managing engineering teams and working with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project planning skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with advanced process nodes (7 nm/5nm/3nm or equivalent).
- Complex SOC Design/Execution exposure in leading organizations.
- Hands-on AI/ML based solution development, Program management skills
