Pattern Master creates the templates (patterns) for garment production, translating a designer's sketches into precise paper or digital patterns for manufacturing. Key responsibilities include drafting patterns, grading them for different sizes, overseeing sample fittings, and collaborating with designers and production teams to ensure fit, accuracy, and efficient material usage. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and proficiency with pattern-making software.
Key ResponsibilitiesPattern Creation: Interpret designer sketches and technical specifications to create accurate paper or digital patterns for various garment sizes. Pattern Grading: Modify and scale patterns to create a full range of sizes, ensuring consistent fit across the product line. Sample Fittings: Conduct fittings, analyze garment fit, and make necessary pattern adjustments based on feedback from designers and sample makers. Collaboration: Work closely with designers, sample makers, and production teams to resolve technical issues and ensure patterns are manufacturable. Quality Control: Ensure patterns meet quality standards, align with manufacturing capabilities, and minimize fabric waste. Documentation: Maintain pattern archives, version control, and data sheets containing all production information. Software Proficiency: Utilize pattern-making software (like Gerber, Lectra, or Optitex) for digital pattern development and adjustments. Required Skills & QualitiesTechnical Skills: Strong understanding of garment construction, fabric behavior, and both traditional and CAD-based pattern-making techniques. Attention to Detail: A keen eye for accuracy is essential for creating precise patterns. Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with designers and production staff. Organizational Skills: Strong time management and organizational skills are necessary to meet deadlines and manage pattern archives.
