CAD Draftsman - Manufacturing Engineering

Role:The Cell Manufacturing Engineering team at Exide Energy is looking for a highly motivated CAD Draftsman to contribute to the ramp-up of cell manufacturing equipment and processes for our cutting-edge Exide Energy Lithium-ion Batteries. The Li-ion Battery is one of the most complex and challenging products designed and manufactured at Exide. Exide is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will be part of a critical subsystem in the manufacturing of an incredibly exciting product. The CAD Drafter will work with cross-functional teams to optimise, validate, and document design changes. Responsibilities:

• Participate in the review of 2D and 3D drawings of plant, equipment, and structures to verify their accuracy, and correct any discrepancies or errors in technical drawings.
• Act as a custodian for updating and maintaining plant layout, equipment technical drawings. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and project engineers to gather requirements and align design changes.
• Integrate equipment models, conveyor systems, pipeline components, and instrumentation parts with the facility layout using Solid Edge, Autodesk Inventor, or SolidWorks.
• Utilise 3D CAD Software functionalities such as clash detection, routing, and interference checking to identify and resolve design conflicts.
• Provide technical support and guidance to Manufacturing engineers, assisting in problemsolving and addressing design challenges related to plant and equipment layouts.
• Document and maintain proper records of drawings, project notes, and specifications of all new products, product changes, and design modifications.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Able to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and meet project deadlines.

Requirements:

• BE/Diploma in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
• 3+ years of relevant experience and proficiency in CAD and BIM tools
• Knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Solid Edge)
• Previous experience with BIM tools like Autodesk Revit, Fusion 360, BIM 360, etc.
• Excellent technical drawing skills and attention to detail
• Understanding of and exposure to Building designs, PID diagrams, Plant layouts, Utilities drawings of HVAC systems, treatment plants like ETP, STP, etc.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
